Looks like early A/C use is going to be on tap. May have to turn it on tomorrow. I don't care for 80s in April. If it's not going to come a random snow, I prefer upper 60s/upper 40s.

Now the dreaded season (for me) is upon us. Heat, storms, flooding and waiting on that first cold front in September to arrive and seeing those first lows in the 40s. I don't know what the summer will bring, but we know it will be hot and humid. Severe season is already off to a bad start with the tornado outbreak that spurred a lot of fatalities last week. I know it can't be avoided but I hope we don't have any more this spring.

Fall/Winter Banter - Football, Basketball, Snowball?
John1122 replied to John1122's topic in Tennessee Valley
Several more feet in the last 48 hours got them here. That's at the top of the ski lifts. Which aren't currently usable because the snow is at the top of them. They have the deepest snow on the North American continent currently according to the report. -

I watch Mammoth Mountain Life and Life in the Eastern Sierra on youtube. They are expecting 2-5 feet today above 4500 feet. Mammoth is right at 8000 and the fellow from Life in the Eastern Sierra lives at 9000. -

None of mine are bloomed or really active yet. I did notice it was greening from Knoxville to Sevier this weekend. Still looks like winter here. -

Was in Sevier County this weekend and just drove home. Ran into a few flurries near Smokies Stadium, Merchants Drive and the Clinch River area on 75. Steady snow with some big flakes at 134 and points north. -

Mammoth Mountain is about to get blasted again. 5 to 8 feet above 8500 feet tonight through Wednesday. Entire two story houses completely buried is just crazy to see. -

Fall/Winter Banter - Football, Basketball, Snowball?

It's just been non-stop all winter for them. Another channel I found last night, the guy lives on Mammoth Mountain just past the resort. He's had over 60 feet this winter and is looking at 5 to 7 feet through Friday. It's compacted but the snow is even to a little above the rail on his back deck, which is 24 feet off the ground. He's worried that he's going to be unable to remove snow from his deck after this week because it will be over the height of the rail. It's like driving around in narrow mazes with the 20+ foot snow banks on the sides of the road. -

This is the channel. He posts a video or two every day. Mammoth Lakes is right at 8000 feet elevation. They average 400 inches a year but he mentioned they are approaching 700 inches this year. https://www.youtube.com/@plowbrother365 -

I've spent late winter watching the Mammoth Mountain Life YouTube channel. My goal is one winter there while I'm still young enough to enjoy it. Maybe even just one storm. The man who does the channel is a snow mover. They got 14 feet of snow in the last week, even though this year is basically making him wealthy, he was he was over it as they got 3 feet over the weekend. -
March 3 High Wind and Severe potential

Currently have sustained winds at 40 with 60mph gusts. Tons of power outages but amazingly I still have it. -
After two very good winters in a row, we will conclude 2022-23 Met winter as the least snowy winter ever at my house. That is the pattern the last 15 years basically, feast or famine without any middle ground. Also one of the warmest winters ever here. It was a full 1989-90 repeat in my area. Any time California is flooding and getting buried with snow, we are not going to have a good winter. Mammoth Lake, Ca is approaching 700 inches of snow this year and is looking to add 5 feet this week. That means bad tidings for our winter and it's just went on and on and on.
-
Over 4 inches of rain today, in two heavy heavy bursts, has pretty bad flooding ongoing. My driveway washed out again and County crews are working on the bridge by my house again.
-
Yes, apparently big silver dollars. Raining in Hixon.
-
It's actually sunny in Hixson right now. Reports of snow/rain mix back home and 35 degrees.
