  1. Looks like the RGEM and to some extent, the UKIE are on board with the clipper. The GFS/NAM remain skeptical. Not sure that isn't what we want to see after they both schooled the American models with the system that just passed.
  2. It coated the cars that had been driven today. It's tiny flakes about as big around as pencil erasers. But quite a lot of them.
  3. Once it got dark it started snowing and has been for a couple of hours.
  4. Dipped to -4 but bounced back to -2. TWC shows my temp going up until midnight then dropping back into tomorrow morning.
  5. I peaked at -1 unless it goes up as the night progresses. Sun is down behind the ridge to my west now and any warming is over for today from it.
  6. There are two modes for New Years, I'm in Chattanooga and it snows back home, or I'm in Chattanooga and there's a severe weather event for New Years. There's rarely any middle ground.
  7. Sitting at -2. Below 0 highs are extremely rare here. I can remember maybe 2 or 3 of them.
  8. I hate to hear that. It's happened to me before. Hopefully you can find the line and get it thawed. I've had to wait out entire cold spells in the past. Now if it's below 10, I leave water dripping in multiple faucets.
  9. It just won't warm any. Not sure if I'm going to get above 0 today at this rate. It's now -3.
  10. Currently-2 with about 1/3rd inch of snow added since I went to bed last night.
  11. Small, painful flakes out there. 21 degrees and it's like getting sandblasted.
  12. Extremely strong wind and blinding snow right now. Probably 35+ gusts. The radar snow is about to race away though.
  13. 34 and a dusting down. Flakes are getting smaller and the snow heavier. Winds are NW at 21 with gusts to 28
  14. I assume that the snow started in the low 40s because the 850s are frigid, above the top of the Plateau and they moved faster than the surface cold. Basically all levels above 3500 feet were able to transport the cold overhead faster than the low level cold could creep through.
  15. Finally starting to turn the corner. That limb wrecking burst of wind must have been the front passing. Temp dropped 1.6 degrees in the last 5 minutes.
  16. The wind is just sending limbs all over the place here. Unfortunately is a strong SW wind transporting very heavy rain over my area. The GFS was very very wrong with the precip location in regards to the front. The worst performance of the models this time out, after being one of the best before. Looks like the RGEM, which was skeptical for this area as soon as it got into 84 hour range, might be the most right. The HRRR was way off too. I'm almost 30 degrees warmer than it had me as midnight approached on runs earlier today.
  17. The cold hung up majorly on the Plateau and the precip shield got back out ahead of the front. Hoping for a good dusting at this point. The cold push will eventually get here but it's dropped it's speed by 75 percent over the last three hours.
  18. The rain has finally picked up here to moderate. I hate wasting the QPF, looks like most places are seeing about .2 before any changeover.
  19. The NAM and GFS also have the clipper, looking pretty good as it heads in Monday.
  20. The cold is definitely hung up on the western Plateau. It was ripping across the state and now it's creeping.
