  1. The HRRR was right. I'm currently getting light rain/snow at 18 degrees.
  2. My current forecast from MRX is 80 percent snow Thursday night with moderate accumulations possible. That's usually wording for 2-4 inches. It's gonna be bitter cold behind it with some 10 to 20 below wind chills. So we're getting the Arctic Blast regardless of snow or not.
  3. We may get the sequel to the current event Thursday and Friday through the weekend. The ICON came more on board with the GFS tonight. The Canadian is trying a bit itself. We aren't likely to get nearly as much snow as we did with this system, but some of us may get more. People rarely like the sequel better, after all. But maybe for our mix/rain victims, this one will be better. The original is going to be hard to beat for most of us.
  4. It's finally stopped snowing after 29 hours. Gonna end this one at 8.5 inches.
  5. The HRRR gives me .16 qpf freezing rain from 2 to 5am.
  6. The rulers I bought for this literally were 12 inch rulers that were near 12.5 inches long, so your tape could be off. That close to a ridge shouldn't cause downsloping and I'm for sure 200 feet of it would matter. I've actually saw people who live near the ridge get extra snow from NW flow as the snow it generates spills over the mountain to nearby areas just on the back side.
  7. It's odd that the HRRR indicates snow continuing around Loudon,Knox, Jefferson, Hamblin but has the zr/sleet mix on the west side. Which Knoxtron is pretty far west and is experiencing it.
  8. My heavy snow from this has been running SW to NE from around the 27 indicator in Morgan Co there. I think that's around Wartburg or Sunbright, just NW of Holston.
  9. Since around dark it just hit the gas here. The feed has been coming from around your area or maybe a little west of you. My rates all night and day were never close to what I've had the last 90 minutes. It just had snowed on frozen ground for 20 straight hours in the lower 20s, so i didn't need rates to pile up a decent accumulation.
  10. Goodness. That's gonna take a blowtorch to melt off.
  11. It's crazy that you've switched. The HRRR shows me switching towards midnight. I'm curious to see if that actually happens.
  12. It continues to absolutely dump snow. If I'd gotten these rates a few more hours those crazy 3k NAM 15 inch totals would have verified.
  13. There's pavement and elevation differences that usually play a big factor. If you zoom in on the street lights you can see how hard it's snowing. The white on white makes it hard to see otherwise.
  14. It's absolutely been pouring for about an hour or more now. When I went out and measured 6.5 inches before dark I swept the powder off my wooden walk/deck. I just measured and it has 2 inches on it since I swept it down to bare wood at about 5:15.
  15. https://www.resortcams.com/webcams/downtown-lafollette-tn/ Webcam of LaFollette about 3 miles SSE of me. The road looks like that even with city and state crews working them.
  16. It's absolutely dumping down here still. It's snowed 3/4ths inch in 30 minutes.
  17. I hate it for you guys along the mountains. There was always going to be an edge east, north and south, but I was hoping it would push across state lines and out beyond our forum area. I had a painful one a few years ago where the Euro was consistently showing 15 to 30 inches over me as close as 24 hours out and it barely snowed here. I believe you far eastern guys got double digit totals that day.
  18. I assume that the airports in each location didn't receive much or as much as other areas.
  19. Fountainguy may have hit on it with his post about the dgz being unusually high over the foothills.
  20. I think this may be the convective showers that were showing up on models yesterday. The flakes are heavier/bigger and are actually making noise as they land on tne snow. Trying to gif a video but who knows how long it'll take.
  21. Its absolutely pouring down again out there. Nickel to quarter sized flakes and 17 degrees.
  22. I screen shot them on my phone and then upload that to freeimage.host and when it's uploaded i click "open image in new tab" and copy that link. My home internet is so slow it takes forever to get the fill size file to upload and I've no storage here.
  23. Looked like it was about to clear out here and then radar suddenly filled all the way back to Fentress County. Possibly the lee side low causing it.
