  1. It was plenty cold this winter, but dry. We are in a pattern for quite a while of 2 warm, 3 cold. This past winter was year 1 of cold. We will see if the pattern keeps its trend of the last 25 years or so. Plus we are getting some extra volcanic activity and should be in a minimum solar period. That said, I got far more snow in the first year of the warm a couple years ago than I did in the frigid January 2018.
  2. It was 53 this morning, there was 0 haze yesterday. It was beautiful.
  3. Just been pounded with rain today and this evening. Approaching 4 inches with a huge area of slow moving storms just beginning to overspread the area again. Around 6pm we had some of the heaviest wind driven rain I've ever seen. Major street flash flooding with them.
  4. I have a graduation to attend Saturday, so rain is almost a guarantee to make the already crowded 2 lane drive even worse.
  5. Had a pretty nice pop-up thunderstorm yesterday afternoon and there's a storm in progress now. Nice to get a rain boost after a few hot/dry days.
  6. Had plans to shoot some photos using evening sun today, so of course the area is just socked in thick with clouds even though high pressure is in control and skies are clear in every direction from the Northern half of the Plateau/SEKY. Not sure why the Cumberlands generate so many clouds.
  7. Found this interesting. Not much of a severe season in Tennessee. Especially for BNA/MRX.
  8. Managed 32 this morning with a heavy frost. Hopefully this is the last freeze/frost of the year. I want to plant tomatoes soon.
  9. Just plain cold out today. Temp in the upper 30s with gusty winds, feeling like 28 out there.
  10. Been at 28 degrees for 5 hours. Probably not going to do any favors to the apple trees that had bloomed.
  11. The snow continues at a steady pace here. The lower elevations have a dusting at around 12-1300 feet. 1750 which is my area, is up to around 2 inches and I'd guess 3.5 to 4 above 2500 where temps are in the 20s right now. The flow is almost due west and it's causing Cross Mountain enhancement as the air gets forced up by the 3600 foot peak. It's a microclimate here where areas can get both NW flow and W flow snow. There are even N flow areas here as Cross Mountain runs north to south and Pine, Black and Walnut mountain run SW to NE and moisture gets wrung out from several directions.
  12. There's a solid 3 inches of snow above 2500 feet and 1.5 here. Snow is still falling steadily.
  13. That's all my photo posts until I can go back and remove some. What a crazy spring for winter weather in my area.
  14. The snow picked up and was moderate to heavy this afternoon. It's still snowing at a pretty good clip and the temp is 32 degrees. I didn't remotely expect this this afternoon.
  15. NW flow snow has been fairly enhanced most of the afternoon. Will have photos soon. Though may have to clear out some old posts to post them
  16. Just had a heavy snow shower roll through that dusted roof tops and decks. Vis was under 1/2 mile for about 10 minutes.
  17. It's snowed most of the day today so far. I've seen it snow at this time of year before, but it's not a yearly occurrence by any means. The fact that it's now snowed on multiple different April days is even more rare.
  18. Rain showers have transitioned to snow showers here. Temp is 37 degrees.
  19. Forecast for my area once again calls for snow possible Sunday night and Monday. This could have been one of the all-time winters if we hadn't been in a drought through the heart of it.
  20. Drove down to Knoxville. Seemed to be a light mix driving over the Ridge at Raccoon Valley. Otherwise falling snow seemed to end at the CC/AC line.
  21. Managed to pick up a coating on the grass and leaves and car tops. It's lightened up at this point but it was neat to see it coming down pretty hard for a while there.
  22. Snow has picked up business here since around 3. Nickel to quarter sized flakes and 1/2 mile vis. It's actually blowing around on roads. Temp is 33.
  23. It's raw out there, temp has fallen through the 30s today. The models whiffed majorly on the precip/cold meeting until the very short range when they picked up on it. Still managed a few snow showers and that's not too bad for April 7th. May manage a few more Sunday night into Monday morning. After that I think the snow threat is over until the usual time next fall. Still, it's crazy that we struggle so many seasons to get snow here, but snow can fall in the state every month except June, July and August and add September to that and snow has fallen in every other month in the below 5000 feet regions.
  24. The NAM and especially NAM3K are pretty aggressive at 18z. 1-3 inches falling north of 40 with some higher pockets in NE areas. Don't know if that will happen and doubt even 1/2 of that will accumulate but spring has shocked me so far. It may again.
