Quite true -- and you are right re the snow maps considering the last "storm" lol. However, once we change to snow, its going to be a real heavy wet snow, which will stick to everything quickly IMO. Be it 1 inch or 5 inches... its going to cause issues. And there is going to be a powerful LLJ with this system as well, which LWX covered in their afternoon AFD.

Very cold Christmas Day however... highs are 15 in the mountains to maybe 25 in the cities across the LWX CWA

Still there on the 00z GFS... but the SLP develops a little earlier and is a bit faster than the 18z GFS run... which cuts down on the snow totals

06z GFS also says we enjoy single digits for lows Christmas night into Boxing Day... near 0 out west in the mountains... 10-15 in the cities Windchills also 0 to -10 for most... -10 to -15 out west in the mountains... near 0 in the cities

06z GFS is a White Christmas with highs in the 20s for most... teens in the mountains. 06z GFS would suggest rain Christmas Eve changing to heavy wet snow... ending Christmas morning. 4-8" of snow. A Christmas miracle indeed

I wouldn't mind the 06z GFS evolution this morning... cold front comes through and a trailing wave develops and runs up the cold front... nice track for us but not for NYC/SNE lol

Still some really light snow/flurries outside... dang. Been snowing for almost 2 hours here... just a quarter inch or so... but very nice

Just went out for a walk at my new apartment in Fairfax City... at 3am lol. No one is out except for a car or two. Really nice to just walk around the block in the quiet, watching the snow fall in the lamp lights above you. Walking down the streets on the sidewalks... feeling the snowflakes hit you... nice and kind of serene.
