  1. No rain here. Cloudy and 48-50 all day so it could have been worse. Spent most of the day inside at a cpr/first aid training anyway so I was shielded from it a bit.
  2. Lower your roof life? It actually shields your shingles from UV exposure. I had mine installed at the same time I had a new roof installed. Didn’t impact my insurance at all. Of course MA has ridiculous insurance rules.
  3. If I ever leave VT when I retire it will be from March 15th through at least May 15th. I want to miss mud season.
  4. Even here at elevation in northern VT, I think that’s at most a 50/50 shot.
  5. Really? That's the only reason you worry about them?
  6. The building next to Charlie O’s burned earlier this week. I guess they were damaged too.
  7. Second big fire to hit Montpelier this week. The city says the wind shifted and they lost a fire truck. This lumberyard is totally engulfed and they are trying to save neighboring buildings. https://www.wcax.com/2023/11/01/crews-battle-major-blaze-montpelier/
  8. Will you count this a birthday snow, even though its a little early?
  9. With bright sunshine too. I ran up to the golf course and was able to get 5 holes in. Car thermo read 30° on the way out. It wasn’t that bad. There was no wind and I had hand warmers in my pocket. Currently 28.2°
  10. Until you had to go and say that out loud and jinx it for us! Take it back, quick!
  11. 26.4°. Hard freeze. The deck is an icy death trap.
  12. I didn't know wolves had reestablished packs in northern Maine.
  13. .59 today and 43.5°. Now this is some real fall weather!
  14. Wind power has faced some serious opposition up here. A serious case of NIMBYism, it comes from across the ideological spectrum. There are people who think it isn't reliable enough and people who don't want to "industrialize" ridgelines.
  15. Flakes mixed with graupel falling lightly but steadily. 36.8°/33.3°
  16. Check that, just noticed a few stray flurries floating down.
  17. Must be a lot of virga because there is nothing falling from tne sky here.
  18. Just heard that. Maine State Police have a 10 pm press conference.
  19. I met Jeff a few years ago at the Maine snowmobile show and you are correct, he is a great guy. My condolences Jeff. I hope you can get some riding in this year to be able to get away from it all for a bit.
  20. I don't see postponing it to be feasible either. Though since there is no Sunday hunting in ME, I guess they could postpone Saturday.
  21. Lots of people with rifles will be entering the Maine woods in the next week or so. If he’s still at large, do the chances of someone coming across him go up?
  22. That’s what I was thinking. Head north towards the Allagash or somewhere in Baxter.
