  1. Big woods in Maine to hide in if you’ve got survival skills.
  2. Glad you and your family are safe. This is awful. What the fuck.
  3. CNN saying at least 16 dead and 50-60 wounded. This picture was posted in a Discord I’m on.
  4. I don't want the headaches that come with it this early. My snowblower is still in the shop and even if it wasn't, it would be a mudblower with this.
  5. Eff that. Flurries, an inch or two? Yes but I don't need that a week from now. I still have stuff to do outside and breaking my back clearing that slop isn't on the list.
  6. It's hard make the decision to open if you can't reliably cover your costs. In 2012 the golf course I was president of decided to open in early April after the record warm March. We brought back staff 3 weeks early, got a few good days in and then the weather turned shitty and we couldn't cover the costs we were incurring. That was a setback for the member owned 9 hole course that has 6 month season.
  7. Cloudy and 56° isn't the worst to play in.
  8. I played 6 holes tonight. It was 44-45. No wind though so it wasn’t bad. I had a couple of hand warmers in my pockets.
  9. A guy got cutting a private trail in northern VT. State settles timber trespass case with man who sought to create backcountry ski glades. He cut in a state park south of Jay Peak. There is a link in the story to the VT Backcountry Skiing Handbook. This thing is 96 pages long!
  10. You were living in NJ and @WinterWolfwas in CT? Couldn’t that explain why your snow ended by morning and his went into the day?
  11. Great for attendance at the show in Augusta though. The vendors I talked to were pretty happy with it. I even met Eastmark from the HCS forum. Nice guy.
  12. Was coming here to see if anyone knew what the snow level was. I guessed 3000’ when we were coming through the White Mts. on our way home from Augusta, ME. What a miserable day. Rain all the way and temps 37°-45°.
  13. I drove over the Kancamagus coming to Maine Friday and was surprised that there was still some good foliage all along the way. As @powderfreakpointed out, it’s was the understory trees and bushes that were putting on the show. Lots of good oranges and yellows closer to the ground. The main trees are in full stick season mode.
  14. At about 1.75” at my place since Friday around noon.
  15. I don’t know about that. I was there last week and Rt. 9 was stuffed with white plates.
  16. Yeah, I’m thinking I would remember that one. I don’t live too far from there and used to be over there at the golf course 3-4 times a week.
  17. I was just thinking the same on my trip to the transfer station. A lot of the late turners are looking good.
  18. Not to speak for him but chestnut trees were wiped out by a blight around that time. They are likely victims of that.
  19. Mines going the other way. Was a 13 at one point and now I’m almost at 18. Biggest mistake this year was that I tweaked my back but kept trying to play through it. Then one day I buried my club into the ground. Club stopped but I kept going. Really felt something in my back. Had to put away the clubs for 3 weeks. I’ve started to gingerly play a little in the last week or so. The bright side is that I’ve really enjoyed my season at a new golf course. It was hard leaving the old place after 20 years but I think it was worth it.
  20. @dryslotI'm going to be in Augusta for the snowmobile show this weekend. Do you think the rainy forecast will drive up attendance?
