Second big fire to hit Montpelier this week. The city says the wind shifted and they lost a fire truck. This lumberyard is totally engulfed and they are trying to save neighboring buildings. https://www.wcax.com/2023/11/01/crews-battle-major-blaze-montpelier/
With bright sunshine too. I ran up to the golf course and was able to get 5 holes in. Car thermo read 30° on the way out. It wasn’t that bad. There was no wind and I had hand warmers in my pocket. Currently 28.2°
Wind power has faced some serious opposition up here. A serious case of NIMBYism, it comes from across the ideological spectrum. There are people who think it isn't reliable enough and people who don't want to "industrialize" ridgelines.
I met Jeff a few years ago at the Maine snowmobile show and you are correct, he is a great guy. My condolences Jeff. I hope you can get some riding in this year to be able to get away from it all for a bit.
Lots of people with rifles will be entering the Maine woods in the next week or so. If he’s still at large, do the chances of someone coming across him go up?
