  1. Killington wants to get bigger. Killington is the East’s largest ski resort. A developer wants to expand on that in a big way.
  2. Better than our overcast 45° with a NW wind at 7 mph.
  3. Oh yeah, I forgot about Granville. Hazen’s Notch is pretty but it’s not “spectacular”. 242 past Jay is “notchy” feeling. There is a gulf down near Ludlow and Chester that gets pretty tight.
  4. It’s pretty unique in VT. What are the other gaps/notches? Hazel’s Notch, Appalachian Gap, Lincoln Gap, Middlebury Gap and Brandon Gap are the ones I can think of and none of them are quite the same. Oddly, the closest thing I can think of is a valley location, the Williamstown Gulf. The Second Branch of the White River cuts through the hills and Rt. 14 runs along side it. At its narrowest, there is barely enough room for the road and the river. The sides are really steep and there are cliffs. Rt.14 gets closed there once in awhile from ice/snow slides. The only picture I could find online is an old postcard that doesn’t really do it justice.
  5. High for the year so far 73.2° but it looks like rain isn’t far away.
  6. It has been. I’m about to head out and play my first holes of the season. Hopefully I don’t twist or tear something. Lol. It sucks getting old!
  7. I think we can all agree that our very own @powderfreakis the gold standard for what he instituted at Stowe. He should be giving seminars at ski industry conferences.
  8. I wish there was a similar mega pass for golf. I’d snap one up in a heartbeat. There has been no significant golf consolidation, at least in this area. I’d love to be able to regularly play a rotation of courses as a “member”.
  9. Thats better than my two 79s.
  10. Went up and paid my membership yesterday, $1250. That’s a second year price, next year it goes up to the full boat price, $1799.
  11. I'd be soooo happy for a few days of this.
  12. I think the PGA/LIV split has something to do with it and the general apathy towards women's sports explains the LPGA.
  13. I don't know if you pay much attention to the LPGA but have you seen what Nelly Korda has been doing? 5 wins in a row including the season's first major yesterday.
  14. 28.5° for the low and a skiff of snow on the car tops.
  15. Mixing the conversation from the ski thread, 289” would be a new seasonal record at Whiteface.
  16. This is from the Whiteface Wikipedia entry: “The average snowfall at Whiteface Mountain is 190 inches per year, and the mountain trails are serviced by additional snowmaking. During the 2016-2017 season Whiteface boasted a record-setting 281 inches of natural snowfall.” Comparatively, that isn’t a lot of snow.
  17. That makes sense. Driving by, it looked, to my untrained eye, pretty gnarly. It isn’t easy to get to though. I’d image being owned by the state also means it’s doesn’t always have the most up to date equipment or technology either.
  18. You may not have seen it but this was yesterday in Lake Placid. Not quite NNE but similar interesting weather.
  19. I think we know what happens, certain posters start saying it’s not just warmer than normal but so warm that air conditioners need to be installed and beach umbrellas need to be dusted off. The fact of the matter is that the warmth is undeniable but +5 isn’t all that great in April. 53° instead of 48°, especially when it’s still accompanied by clouds and showers still isn’t all that great.
