  1. It’s sounds like my injury a couple of years ago. I popped a hammy.
  2. About 25 years ago a local girl was killed on a softball field by one. It was clear and then a bolt out of the blue struck her.
  3. I’m sure we would have been fine sharing some of the bounty we received this week with others.
  4. You guys can come up to my club. https://www.ccofbarre.com
  5. I popped a hamstring in a club championship golf tournament a few years ago. Heard a pop and it felt like a ball hit the back of my leg. I got up and tried to take a step forward and went down. Two putted the hole for par but could not really swing great on the next tee. I had to drop out and go to urgent care. They put me in a boot. It didn’t take all that long to heal maybe a few weeks? The worst part was that I was leading my flight on the second day of the tournament and had to withdraw.
  6. I’d travel to play, given enough notice. I’m sure my 18 handicap would travel well!
  7. I can’t believe the guy ignored the warnings from the people there. I can’t imagine trying to stop someone and the. Seeing them almost immediately get swept away.
  8. Another article from last year with a similar theme After Irene, Vermont ‘built back smarter.’ It has more work to do. Anecdotally, on a similar note, the story was the same with our snowmobile trail system. Bridges and culverts that had been addressed fared well while older infrastructure did not.
  9. We have been working on that since Irene. It's just hard to keep up. The story below is from last year. https://www.vermontpublic.org/local-news/2023-07-25/vermont-spent-millions-on-flood-mitigation-after-tropical-storm-irene-did-it-work
  10. Yeah, the radar looked like the boundary shifted a bit north. Still lightening off towards the northeast, like the Orange/Groton area.
  11. Yikes. That’s just down the hill from me. It’s stopped here for now.
  12. My wife is in Old Orchard Beach this week so that works for her.
  13. I don't know, when there is a tornado warning in the heart of the Adirondacks it seems pretty legit.
  14. This is what I’m hoping for. We don’t need any extra flood memories.
  15. That is exactly what I don't want to hear.
  16. I used to sing that to my son when he was in his car seat. He loved singing along with the “do, do,d da, da, da” part.
  17. My lips are cracking just thinking about it.
  18. Did a huge tour of NNE this weekend helping my friends move to Presque Isle, ME. Picked up the U-Haul in St. J Friday morning, loaded it up that day and took off at 7:30 Saturday morning. Ran into absolutly horrendous rain between Littleton and Gorham, NH. Flash flood warnings for southern Coos and northern Grafton counties came over the radio. Don’t know how much they got but I felt bad for the few bicyclists and hikers we saw. Got out of the rain and made our way over to 95 in Augusta. The loaded 20’ U-Haul wa somewhat impressive, I was able t keep it between 75 & 80 north of Bangor. At some point we got back into low clouds and misery mist, enough so that I didn’t bother taking my wife up to the scenic overlook of Katahdin. Got Presque Isle around 4:00 and got the truck unloaded. Then went to Elks club in town and got drunk. This morning we got up around 9:00, grabbed some Tim Horton’s and hit the road south. My wife had followed with one of our friend’s 12 year old Labs and so I had a way back. I had to drop her off on Old Orchard Beach for a week with 3 of her girlfriends. Got there around 2:30 and then I headed back home around 3:30 through Sanford, ME and Rochester, NH. Finally got home around 7:00. I’m beat and man’s did I see a lot of NNE yesterday and today.
  19. Helped some friends in Woodbury load a U-Haul for their move to Presque Isle. I was in the truck stacking boxes, it was an absolute sauna. Tomorrow I drive it to northern Maine. Hopefully there isn’t a lot of crappy weather to drive through.
  20. 80.6°/48.8° Pretty much a perfect summer day.
  21. I'd imagine you were pretty uncomfortable working in one all day.
