  1. The picture you posted was from a relatively poor winter. This year has been very uneven across NNE. Not great for pack building and not cold.
  2. Sweet. I only get up that way once or twice a year, usually on my way to Maine. When my son was little we would take him to Santa's Village and Six Gun City. It's a beautiful area.
  3. They call it Poor Man's fertilizer this time of year, maybe it will help his lawn.
  4. It was cloudy when we were there in February
  5. The scale of the Presidential's has always been what gets me. You don't get that anywhere else in the east.
  6. Same here and next week looks pretty crappy
  7. Yes, Randolph is a beautiful area. And you're close to Santa's Village and Six Gun City!
  8. Saw Blackberry Smoke play in Burlington a year or two ago. Great band
  9. Nice. I don't have any power issues because I live around the corner from a substation but if I ever build a house or move to a rural location, thats one thing I would install first thing.
  10. My back has no sesire for the amount of digging needed to explore those areas.
  11. Easy access too, not too far from I-91
  12. I had a good friend who had his first teaching job at N.Stratford, NH. He got an apartment in Colebrook. Lated one year and had to move back to this area. I do remeber that the Chinese restaurant in Colebrook was pretty good when I went up to visit. There was nothing going on up there. That was back in 93 or 94 I think.
  13. The Chic Chocs Mts. in Quebec and Labrador
  14. They hold the annual Snodeo at Colman State Park. That place gets rocked with snow. Even in poor years. I went up there in March 2006 and even in that craptacular year there was good snow up there.
  15. You don’t need to be, you just need to know the right people. Most loggers don’t own the land. When you buy it you hire a forester to help you make a plan to manage the land. I even think the State has foresters in each county that work with landowners to develop management plans for little or no fee. https://fpr.vermont.gov/forest/managing-your-woodlands/county-forester-program
  16. Near Jay it’s the Québécois.
  17. 53 and overcast but enough to open the windows and air the place out while doing housework.
  18. I’ll second what PF said about Montreal. Love that city. My last trip there a couple of weeks ago had to be canceled unfortunately. It’s a great city in winter and it really comes alive in summer. There are festivals almost every weekend and lots of parks and stuff to do outside. Montgomery is a cute little town. One of the stores in the village has an old fashioned soda fountain in it but I’m not sure if it’s still open. I did a little snowmobiling in that area this winter. As PF noted, it wasn’t a great winter but there was still plenty of snow there.
  19. There are also some towns in VT away from the ski areas a bit but still get a ton of snow. Eden and Lowell are north of Stowe but south of Jay and get a ton of snow. Property values aren’t too out of whack. Same with towns like Woodbury, Danville and Walden. Walden used to have a well known weather camera at Cole’s Pond. That area gets and holds snow really well. Lot of places between 1500’-2000’. These towns are a little further from the ski areas, any where between 30 minutes and an hour but property prices reflect that.
  20. That is a weenie spot. The snow in there is pretty sweet most years. It's one of my go to snowmobiling spots. You get some great views of the White's too.
