I like that each of the NE states have different character.

Until you hit the border station and immediately look out on the flat farmlands of the Eastern Townships in PQ. That transition is so startling.

I’ll never forget the time when I was in high school and two jets from the old Plattsburgh Air Force Base came screaming down our valley so low you could see the pilots. There was no sonic boom but it was incredibly loud I remember them shaking the barn we were in. My neighbor’s husband was the commanding officer at the Lakehurst Naval Air Station at the time. She called him, got him out of a staff meeting and insisted he call Plattsburgh and report it to the base commander. I don’t know if anything ever came of that but it was funny listening to her yell at her husband who was hundreds of miles away about something that didn’t have anything to do with his branch of service.

Grooming above freezing is hard and typically is t done on snowmobile trails. The snow is sticky and doesn’t roll through the drag. I know ski slope grooming uses different equipment but I’d imagine it’s still hard to work snow at those temps.

I read the same reports. I would think his career in competitive golf would be pretty much done.

That was my first thought too. Addiction is a bitch.

That and mud season are how we keep out the pretenders.

My PWS got up to 37.7°, which is my all time high, at least since it was installed January 1st. Back down to 35.6°

That’s why other than ski slopes, April is generally a useless month up here. Sometimes the uselessness lingers into May.

Big news here. I've just recorded my record gust (aside from my screwing around with the anemometer and spinning it by hand), 19.4 mph. Of course I've only had a PWS up since New Year's Day but a record is a record.

That is what I think too. Locally, it delayed the start of of our snowmobiling a week or two. On difference that made it feel longer is that it was pretty much the entire state. Usually you can find open trails in the NEK and higher elevations before other areas get going. Not after this grinch storm. Everywhere got whacked with that storm and combined with the lack of real cold to freeze up ponds and streams, the winter feel was skimpy for a while.

Were you here in 2015/16? 2011/12? Those were way worse.

Took a ride in a groomer tonight. Good snow cover everywhere. This type of snow is much better for snowmobilers than skiers.

Ummm, Ginx retired after a career as a building engineer. I believe there was a hint of sarcasm in his reply.
