  1. Got out to play some golf this evening up in Essex. This is looking east from the fairway of the 18th at Essex Country Club.
  2. We went and visited a friend who is camping at the state park a mile or two away on a different pond. While we are there we heard loons calling out. I walked down to the water and there was a pair of loons in the water yelling at a bald eagle that was swooping at the water around them. I assume they were all trying to fish. I tried taking a picture but they were a bit too far out to really capture. One of the coolest nature things I’ve witnessed.
  3. Beautiful beach at the campground I’m at in Island Pond.
  4. Not a pitcher but remember when Chuck Knoblauch seemingly forgot how to throw a baseball? https://www.thecoldwire.com/what-happened-to-chuck-knoblauch/
  5. I said that for years. Finally after years of telling my wife and son I’d be happy with any presents they got me for Christmas, i told them I wanted a weather station. It’s a cheap-o Ambient but it works ok for my limited needs.
  6. Up in Island Pond camping for the weekend. Turned into a beautiful night. Blue skies as the sun sets and down to 56° already.
  7. Thanks for the tip. I’ll definitely try something like that.
  8. Just like winter, cold and dry sucks. Might as well water the farmer's fields if it's going to be this cool.
  9. I was there a couple of years ago. Granted, I was there for a training but I enjoyed it. And yes, I understand there are some real issues in that city and the Fells Point and the Inner Harbor don't represent the entire picture. Still, I enjoyed my time there and I hope at some point they can turn it around in other areas.
  10. I take the opposite view, cities are eminently visitable, they just aren't where I choose to live. I enjoy visiting Montreal, London, Berlin, even Boston on occasion. I just don't want to live in one and am happy to get home.
  11. I thought about flying into Rapid City, I could have used airline miles but I wanted to do the drive and rental cars were crazy when I checked into them. We are doing it in 3 days or so. I like road trips and have always felt that seeing new stuff along the way is part of the fun.
  12. Spectacular. The way a NNE summer should be.
  13. I've just been booking stays out in S. Dakota and Wyoming for my upcoming vacation. My son and I are leaving next Friday and driving out west to spending some time around Mt. Rushmore and then heading over to Yellowstone. We'll spend 2-3 days poking around the park but we probably won't see half a quarter of what there is. After that, we are heading back east. I would really love to see the Canadian border open so we can go back through the UP of Michigan and Ontario.
  14. Ugh. Camping in the NEK this weekend
  15. Looks like we dipped to an MPM 50° of 49.8° last night. Great sleeping weather.
  16. I always figured this type of thing would be drive by some sort of fuel market disruption that made transport costs prohibitive. Never figured on actual containers being stranded in the wrong places being an issue.
  17. Bruins, what a shame. Lol.
  18. We’ve broken the 60° barrier. 59.5°/53°
  19. 63°/54°. It’s almost chilly.
  20. The humidity lockdown may be the worse kind. Can't even escape it with a solo hike.
  21. You do know they aren't "experimental" right? An EUA basically authorizes the manufacturer to start production before approval, instead of waiting to ramp it up afterwards. https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-covid-vaccines/corrected-fact-check-covid-19-vaccines-are-not-experimental-and-they-have-not-skipped-trial-stages-idUSL1N2M70MW https://vaccine.unchealthcare.org/science/vaccine-approval/whats-the-difference-between-fda-emergency-use-authorization-and-fda-approval/
  22. Yep. 78.2°/56.3° near perfection
