My Dad lives in Midlo (I used to...Midlo class of '95) and you've now had more snow than I have in the Appalachian snowbelt.
-
I can see why the snow is having trouble finding its way north. My DP at 7 AM was 21. Now, it's a whopping 2. Talk about a beat down.
-
Temp is 33 and steady (if light) snow. Not amounting to much given the marginal temps, but it sure beats 38 and rain. Maybe some of this energy makes it over the hills?

It's a winter day! Love seeing your reports. My Dad in Midlothian measured just shy of 3". And while nothing imby other than a few flurries dancing about, it's been a perfect day for Wisp's opening. Temps holding in the mid 20s. Love it.

Wisp is looking good for opening day tomorrow. Employees there are all working OT to get ready. Temp in the low 20s means the guns will be going all night. My hubby is a lift operator and has created several playlists of awesome music to play on his portable Bose speaker at his station - kinda become a thing there to add to the party atmosphere. Fun times coming!

You're in a good spot - I seriously hope you overperform. My Dad (Midlothian outside of Richmond) is too. I doubt I'll see much more than conversation flakes, but boy it's been cold here. Parts of Broadford Lake (poor man's Deep Creek near my house) are starting to ice over even. Hi of 26 yesterday and currently sitting at 23 with a thick overcast.
-
Ended up with 2.4". Temp now 25 with snizzle and a stiff breeze. Went out to dinner and yeah, winter is here. Wisp opens Friday and the hubby and his team are excited for a great start to the season.

*this* close in your yard, dangit. Kinda like what others have mentioned tho, it's nice to see this having some precip and not just a shredded out virga mess. Temps here have leveled off at around 30.6 for the last hour or so. Huge dendrites now accumulating rapidly - probably 3/4 inch in the last half hour. What's nice is not a breath of wind.
-
@EskimoJoe from my front porch. About an inch so far but that was on either side of about 45 minutes of ZR.
-
Maybe some hope for our northern/western friends? Flipped back to snow here in southwest Garrett County. Temp slowly rising tho to 30.7.
-
Snow didn't last very long. Maybe 1/2 inch before the flip to ZR. Temp 30 on the nose.
-
Steady snow with good size flakes. Temp went from 30.6 to 27.9….solid coating thus far.
-
Same story out in Garrett County. Was 26.1 about an hour and a half ago, now it's 27.5. It'll be interesting to see if we can hang on to the snow.
-
10.8 this morning. Coldest so far this year by 6 degrees.

I’m really hoping my reports will be needed this winter!

I hope you have fun with your crowd! I just got back a few weeks ago from looking around the Keewenaw and it's absolutely killing me to miss the blizzard knocking on their doors. Any other time, I'd be on my way there. Crossing my fingers you have enough to play with . I'll wave from Richmond lol.
-
I did jump but I'd hardly call it a ledge at one or two inches high which, coincidentally, is the most snow anyone will see this winter.

They always tell employees Thanksgiving weekend, obviously with the caveat of conditions permitting. We all know that's not realistic. It's generally mid December but I'm not seeing how that will be possible this year. Or if they can manage to get the guns fired up, it'll be very limited operations. As anyone around here knows, you qualify every forecast statement with the asterisk "I could be wrong". I hope I get frostbite from a stinging blizzard over and over...but the overall setup we are all staring at is one of a warm and dry winter.
-
Unfortunately I think you're correct. Today is orientation day for the seasonal workers at Wisp and I'm getting the pbp of a seriously dour ski season outlook. They are warning folks they may not be able to provide 40 hours per week due to their forecast of a subpar season, much like 22-23. East of the Mississippi and south of I-90, there isn't even any fantasy snow to look at. I'm well aware of the calendar date today but I'm also well aware flashing red lights rarely become green arrows.

I hit almost 44 but had sun until about 2 pm. Now it's 35 with light rain. Yuuuuuuuuck lol.

After a true winter's day two days ago (29/16), it didn't make it below freezing last night and poof, there went our little snow cover. Going to be beautiful the next few days at least.
-
Yes, this was weird. I'm beginning my 4th winter in Garrett County and I've found that the Davis 3SE observer consistently gets 50% more snow than I do. I get 5...he gets 7-8, I get 4, he gets 6 and so forth. For me to get under 3 and he reports 14 is highly unusual. I drove there this morning and as I gained altitude on Rte 90, it was like someone turned on a switch by the time I got to Tucker County. Davis is generally the winner in my area but to jackpot like this (hell, a day and a half ago, Tucker County didn't even have a WWA) made me scratch my head - and pout.
-
Went to Blackwater Falls this morning. Just so damn beautiful. When people talk about their happy place, this is mine.
