  1. You knew the day the kids went back to school, that we’d rattle off like two weeks of pure summer finally. Sorry HubbDave and those in classrooms.
  2. I feel like we’ve done that a lot lately up north too… gets real hot in like April or May with 90+ prior to full leaf out. Then summer is meh for max temps but we’ll run 90+ in September again.
  3. If SkiMRG had your keyboard it would be “where’s the heat? Max of only 83F at my house last three days. No big deal.” On the other hand, one could ignore afternoon highs completely and only post morning mins and afternoon dews, like the temp doesn’t exist. Funny thinking of how the same data is presented by different people.
  4. Think you’ll get to mid-80s for temps? Up to 86F here. I think we get 90F.
  5. Yeah going to be a hot few days. Hottest hike in a while today, nice cleanse, ha. Down to 68F outside but with the mini-split it’s like 62F inside… wife is under blankets and cold. Starting Tuesday, heat builds further as 500mb heights climb to or above 588dm. Heat index values correspondingly climb as well for Tuesday afternoon into the mid/upper 90s for many locations in the North Country as 925mb temperatures range 22-25C. One thing that seems to be keeping the humidity is that mixing is not the greatest given the height rises and presentation of a lower level isothermal or inversion layer, depending on location, at 4kft. NAM has been closer to what has occurred with mixing today than the GFS where the error in dew points has ranged 3-6C. NAM and bias corrected models were favored heading into Tuesday which supported slightly dew points lending to an additional degree or so increase in heat index values. Temperatures for Tuesday will also increase a couple/three degrees over Labor Day`s highs; the expectation is from widespread upper 80s for valleys to around 90 degrees. There will not be much relief Tuesday night although temperatures will cool into the 60s to around 70 degrees. The duration of these lows will be short-lived limiting the effectiveness of cooling homes and other structures even if windows are left open due to the thermal inertia and slower rate of heat release with dew points remaining elevated.
  6. Saw you had 83.4F today, what do you think you’re max will be through this torch period? Trying not to be a stalky bitch lol, just mildly fascinated with how low your max temps are to be honest. And it’s a good barometer for 800ft in Woodstock. Like that 83F today was the hottest temperature there since July 27th. Up here we did 87F at MVL and 89F (88.5) at local PWS.
  7. We’ve hit 88F on a couple 5-min temps… but either way, at least 87F so far. 3:10pm showing 88/70… that’s legit. DIT’s site at 80.5F right now, wild how hard it is to get heat there in the woods of NE CT.
  8. No blue collar temps today… holiday weekend and many folks traveling to water during the 3-day weekend. Better for relaxing, compared to working outside.
  9. You do holidays well my dude. The menus always sound good, lol.
  10. We got 82F here. Perfect summer temp. Warm enough to swim but not too hot for any other activity. A tad too warm to pave though.
  11. It was a challenge wandering around Europe at 38C temps, ha. That should be a nice time to visit.
  12. Wild stuff. Las Vegas Fire & Rescue found the body of a possible drowning victim entangled in debris in northwest Las Vegas early Saturday morning, officials said in a statement. The department responded to a report of an unconscious person near the intersection of Lorenzi Street and Westcliff Drive. The victim likely was swept away by moving water. Clark County has been under a flash flood warning since Friday.
  13. Yeah today was solid. The past three days especially but today was warmer at 77F for a high. Sort of looking forward to a last hurrah of deep summer heat and humidity. A reason to run the A/C once again.
  14. Local PWS did 75F and 45F today, MVL with 74F off 46F. I feel our radiating is getting cut off pretty quickly on these clear nights from fog formation. The ground is so wet and saturated, warm too... and we get these late summer troughs with cool air, everything 1,000ft and below is just 1/4 or M1/4 visibility cloud.
  15. Widespread two-foot+ water during Met Summer across the region... up here: June... 5.26" July... 14.41" August... 8.38" Total... 28.05"
  16. Yeah, and compressional warming as usual with NW flow down into the low lands in SNE. Short-lived but -10F on the max temp (66F) despite full sunshine was still noticeable here. Saw ORH hit 73F on the same normal of 76F as up here. So only -3F. Not very noteworthy down there. Pretty cool that MWN was coding snow this AM (not GS or IP)... yeah, late August -SHSN certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities but it's also a respectable airmass. Didn't seem to dig as much into the southern regional zones.
  17. There’s always that one tree that wants to get the party started before the others. Today had a definite fall vibe for temperature, wind, and lowering sun angle. Afternoon temperatures were near 40F at 6k feet on MWN, 50F at 4K feet on Mansfield, and mid-60s in the mountain valleys. To be honest I’m not ready to jump fully into autumn; next week’s heat and summer temps will be welcomed.
  18. First true hoodie evening. 52F at 8:10pm… 53F last hourly update. Going to be in the 40s by 9pm.
  19. First 30s on Mansfield since June 8th. Ten minutes of 38F lol. Struggling in mid-60s up north with full sunshine, fairly autumn-like air mass.
