  1. Locally up north here, there was some strong orographic lift responses from NW flow. The mountain (Mansfield) saw some solid lifting enhancements that the valley didn’t. 1.00-1.50” Hill vs 0.50-1.00” Valley.
  2. Yup, many of us had them with a win total in the 80s… a .500 team or a game or so above. The jury might still be out on the front office and coaching staff as they are always more concerned with the future than today… which is incredible frustrating at times when they play 162 games a season. And the games are 3 hours long. Sometimes urgency in the near-term is a good thing when fans lack patience for the long-game.
  3. They’ve done a great job crafting a young talented team. Should be great for years too. Extending young guys prior to free agency and drafting very well has paid off. Opposite of the Yankees who have been built on older aging veteran free agents.
  4. Temp down to 62F and getting breezy out of the NW. Up to almost .80” water today.
  5. Love Ginxy but an interesting hill to die on right now, ha.
  6. About a half inch today up a bit NW but pouring again. Have had a variety of downpours from time to time this afternoon at the mountain.
  7. Pouring this morning… really missed the rain when gone.
  8. Yeah, that only happens if the August pattern completely and absolutely dissolves into full ridge overwhelming from the central portion of the country. Likely there remains a tendency for FROPAs (especially NE’ern areas) moving over-the-top towards the Maritimes. But we look to get periods of true summer warmth during the first part of September. Guess it’s not totally unusual.
  9. I think September is a lock for above normal, and any month with that long wave pattern (as advertised during the first third of the month) is going to be a contender for a higher-scale departure. Charts usually lay the ground work for the future outcomes, pretty colors and all. Red or blue. In this case, red. Much different than August. If we are going to accept models did well in August, we need to accept that they will do well in September. Can’t attack the data because of an agenda or pre-conceived mindset… which is very important to remember these days.
  10. Yeah I’ve got some, mostly night shots, ha. Far too hot to carry the camera around in a backpack during the daytime, had to keep it to iPhone shots then. Ill post some in the banter thread one of these days.
  11. Back in VT today after landing in BOS yesterday… Today’s 81/64 felt downright cool. It is crazy how the body acclimates… two weeks in Europe and not a single day in any city visited saw a high temp under 90F. Most were mid/upper 90s. It started to feel like normal. Today, windows and doors open feeling like it’s 72/48 but it was 81/64. Pretty wild how two weeks of 95F with nights of 70-75F can reset your baseline.
  12. Think you’ll beat your brutal August max temp of 81F? In all honestly may not see an August completely devoid of any heat like that again.
  13. Sound advice. But haven’t we had 80s in March recently? Rarely remember September snows. Feels like March gets closer to summery temps than September to winter temps.
  14. There is zero doubt that this trough and persistently lower heights over NE turn into an absolute torch as we head into the Fall… without even looking at any model guidance, ha. Because why not? Then we can all hear a poster saying “you all wanted the trough in the summer, now we get a never ending ridge when it’s supposed to cool off… you did this.”
  15. Usual torch spot of the BTV airport at -2.2. MVL only -0.7 and MPV -1.2 with lack of good radiational cooling given clouds/rain. BTV doesn’t radiate anyway (none baked into climo) so very cool departures.
  16. Data can be confusing, especially with a minus sign in front of it.
  17. Looks like 0.69” back home since yesterday evening. This will be the first summer the garden hasn’t had to be watered once. Can go away for two weeks and not even worry… just keeps getting soaked.
  18. Looks like it was 45F back home at MVL and 44F at nearest PWS.
  19. My folks saying it’s a beautiful afternoon in NE CT… perfect for walking 18. Looked at temps and noticed the hilltops are a tough spot for those looking to torch in warm season.
  20. Too much wine each night. Can’t read what’s on any of the bottles, so need to find out through investigative consumption.
  21. It’s sort of funny… millions of people around and literally zero out in the sun in most of the squares. Only people are in the shade at cafe’s and eateries lining buildings… but only on the shady sides. It’s just too hot to even walk through the sunny areas. Ghost cities due to heat. Everyone inside during the day and come out at night.
