  1. Yeah brother, and martini's with take out subs on the front porch.
  2. Personally, I like cold, snow or no snow, I like cold rain, cold sunny days, etc. Living in the SE our cold really isn't all that cold and is quite tolerable as compared to real cold, below zero temps, etc. My issue is an early spring in the 80's flipping back to cold frosts, the back and forth is frustrating. 95% of the SC peaches were wiped out last year, I hope those farmers are doing better this year.
  3. Since the thread been a bit slow I thought I would toss out a question for the mid range weather. i was reading in the Washington Post about an epic much colder than normal extended outbreak of freezing weather. The beast from the east as they say. Also that it is causing much warmer temps in the Arctic as the really cold air pours into Eastern Europe. Would this effect our chances for our annual March “killing frost” cold snap? I.e. would our cold snap be less sever if the artic dumps its cold air over Europe first or does it just quickly reload again this close to spring? https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/capital-weather-gang/wp/2018/02/23/europe-braces-for-beast-from-the-east-cold-snap-potentially-the-most-severe-in-5-years/?utm_term=.15dbd55d4e30
  4. Cut the lawn this past weekend, trees are starting to blossom, daffodils are blooming, put the A/C on today because we hit 82 and I swear I was bitten by the years first mosquito. Spring is here with a vengeance. Now I wait and watch for the murderous late winter or early spring frost/snowstorm to kill off everything but the mosquitos. Sigh.
  5. Apple trees popped, a few blossoms showing, peach trees look like they are getting ready as well. Killer frost is likely some time in March, damn it all. I really wish spring would hold on just enough not to kill off everything again like last year.
  6. I know that there has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth over the trend to an early spring, however. I pulled the mulch off of my banana trees so they will start growing again, betting the warmth continues. This means the chance for a late February, early March snowstorm has risen dramatically. Considering the overall uncertainty in predicting weather a month away, this is likely as predictive as any other methods. Just doing my part to help the cause.
  7. Venting Frustration! Apple trees starting to bud out, expecting the typical SC midlands killing frost to pop up in two weeks or so, sigh . I really wish spring would either hold on from here on out or that it turns cold soon and gets the last cold shot out of the way. This mid-february and near 70 degrees plays hell with my fruit trees.
  8. I am with you on this one brother. Let's get spring going and my banana plants growing.
