  1. Thank you for this great explanation of where you see things and thanks for the hard work you do and your willingness to share it.
  2. Scott Will Ray and others...you have been right. Isotherm too aggressive with late December (it seems, as he expected models to correct toward colder solutions) although the ideas expressed by him Ray Don (and probably others) still may be prescient we fiercly hope. It sure is great to have access to this kind of expertise.
  3. Look on the bright side. Snow cover of even an inch allows for burning brush without a permit! Lol. I have 4 large brush piles full of multi-floral rose and bittersweet that has literally killed hundreds of my trees. Burning it all on New Years and it will be a great party.
  4. And it seems like thurs night and Friday are trending snowier and colder and more swfe-like with light rain or drizzle after a couple inches a snow and sleet at least up here.
  5. Thanks for paying us a visit Bob. I read you sometimes in your regional thread. Merry Christmas if you celebrate...Happy New Year otherwise.
  6. Think of this as a two-part wnter. We had a few weeks of it and now we are in the 2nd half of a long jan thaw. Winter restarts next week and goes uuntil mid or late feb. then a pause and then maybe a grand finale.
  7. Though I mostly don’t know what I’m talking about, would that map imply a gradient that would be good for a lot of us also with the possibility of re-development and storms slowing down due to the confluence to the north and northeast of us with high pressure over Greenland and a low out in the 50-50 position? Also a cold supply from high-pressure over North West Canada and a split flow from the trough in the west
  8. Snow amounts on winderground for Boscawen and have gone from 3 inches earlier to 4 inches a couple of hours ago to 5 inches now. I wonder what model they use
  9. Just flew into New York and driving into Manhattan and quite suddenly it is switched over to a mix of sleet and snow and rain. And very windy
  10. Yes but isn't this a cutter or inland runner due to high position?
  11. Dude needs to be banned for straight up personal attacks. Unless we like the entertainment value
  12. Yes I get that. But when mets come in here and share their perspectives, I just shut up and listen 9usually) and am grateful. Lurker can always just ask "I didn't get that. What do you mean by..." instead of telling Tip how he should write, and share his met perspective.
  13. I have a better idea. Why don’t you actually read it slowly and ponder and think about it. The inability of people under 25 years of age to write a complete sentence or express one thought with any level of nuance is gone. Would he be better if you wrote it in text abbreviations with emoji‘s? Would that help?
  14. Well we have the EC the GEM the GFS the FV3 and the KFS. I'm adding the VFS to the mix.
  15. does not look like suppression city...looks like storms could come up the coast, looks like Miller Bs could happen. That would be a great few weeks. maybe a return of epicosity.
  16. looks like an el nino with the cold anomolies to the south. could be cold enough to snow here with good tracks.
  17. I find Isotherms thread in the NYC forum to be comforting.
  18. Water Street up on a hill, a couple of hundred feet highter than the main street near the river. Was definitely more than an inch...I think close to 2. But I didn't measure. We usually are the same as Canterbury though, and you as well but we had less than you last week I'm pretty sure. We went out walking at 8 when it was already raining for 2 hours and it was more than an inch.
  19. Eyeballing about 2 inches on my car. But light rain now. Thought we might lose the snow packed by tomorrow morning but maybe we hang on, freeze up and then get a north and west trend later in the week. Then we’re good straight to March
  20. I’m not the extreme north end around here we had anywhere from two or 3 inches up to eight or 10 inches at higher elevations. He wasn’t exactly right with the snow to the coast, but he went colder and snowier here the most and so he was partially right I think
  21. Sometimes it seems that when -epo is showing up a lot on LR runs it tends to happen, yes?
