  1. I'm still quite surprised that the disaster declaration on the federal side hasn't been approved yet for Iowa & Illinois. This is an absolute mess for several cities and countless farms. Surely this will be Iowa's most expensive non-flooding related natural disaster.
  2. We're talking about presentation, intensity, ACE, etc. We may be on the "J" name, but 2005 by far blows this season away so far.
  3. Estimates of up to 10mil acres, roughly 1/3, of Iowa's corn crop is damaged/destroyed. Unreal. https://www.kcci.com/article/derecho-damage-to-iowa-crops/33577652
  4. Oh, I've seen the video posted on Twitter. Definitely a confirmed today given the very obvious rotating and upward motion of the debris cloud.
  5. Looking at some of the damage, some Iowa counties may have near total losses of corn crops. They're just completely flattened.
  6. So, for the Chicagoland area today: rampant looting in the early morning, then a large factory fire near O' Hare, now tornado warning with 80+mph winds. 2020 is wild, today, even wilder.
  7. LOT is including wording that winds may last longer than 30 minutes, which seems pretty damn accurate.
  8. Sounds like holding firm with the MDT given the wording on that MD.
  9. Widespread damage reported in Cedar Rapids, unsurprisingly.
  10. Damn, Marshalltown can't catch a break these last 2 years.
  11. Well, that's pretty easy to accomplish when one has already happened before August 1st.
  12. I don't even understand how I'll be able to help my folks in north Murfreesboro cover everything Friday night. Not just the garden veggies, but annuals, perennials getting ready to bloom, and some crape myrtles that are short enough to cover. I does appear in the longer range ensembles that we'll have a short grace period of spring weather and then comes the torch.
  13. And then Oklahoma 3 days later with another EF-5 and two upper-end EF4s.
  14. This wake low pushed it from roughly 80k back to over 100k.
  15. Nashville escaped the storms, but now a wake low event is raking the metro. 2020 has is out for Davidson County apparently.
  16. Likely tornado in progress north of Carthage.
  17. Max gust at KMQY (Smyrna/Rutherford County) of 53kt.
  18. Max gust at BNA measured at 62kt.
  19. That’s about to be a pretty big problem for the areas hit by the EF3 in March. So many tarps and weakened trees aren’t a good combination. .
  20. Multiple cars damaged and at least 1 semi flipped on I-40 east of Tuckers Crossroads in Wilson County.
  21. The overall synoptic pattern is incredible, but what will make or break is going to be in the short term, such as WF position, junk convection, etc. 27/4/2011 was really tampered back for Middle TN because of consistent rain and convection to the south keeping things much more stable. .
  22. Well, this is highly concerning moving into a highly populated area of southern metro Jax.
  23. Eufaula, AL has had bad luck in March in back-to-back years.
