  1. Significant cell appears to be descending on me from the NW but may miss by a mile or two. Temp is down 6-7° since the clouds moved so that's nice.
  2. If you needed to drive from here to Jamestown NY overnight and then loop around western NY tomorrow but could postpone it until next week, would you? I'm not liking the thought of driving in and out of torrential downpours on Rt17 for hours on end.
  3. Well... I'm at the music festival in Patchogue sitting under a very wet tent under increasingly heavier rain.
  4. Thoughts for Suffolk south shore, mostly dry or strong chance it'll get wet? If it gets wet is that ^^ 2pm about right or will it be earlier?
  5. When is the wind gonna change and blow this isht outta here?
  6. Please stop drinking, washing clothes, showering, washing the car, watering the lawn and some other everyday stuff. That aquifer under the sand bar needs some help And where is it that the water comes from that comes out of those hoses? Rain maybe? Nah...
  7. That thing was insane. 17" of cement onto leafed out foliage. Fugn disaster.
  8. If you go I'll be easy to find, my wife has a booth in the vendor area. Look for the Looming Madness tent.
  9. Hoping for the South Shore desert to do its job next weekend. I need it to be dry in Patchogue for the Great South Bay Festival. Let's see what we can do to juggle the forecast around to make it happen
  10. I think there are only 6 out of about 20 on my block with central air. Ours is the oldest but had it added in the late 80s.
  11. IMO the mosquitoes have been a bigger problem than the ticks so far this year. As you mentioned they are about to be a bigger issue, not looking forward to that.
  12. When our kids were little we would plan to do the outdoor stuff early and try to be done by 2. We usually avoided storminess and ate a lot of ice cream watching it rain after we were done outside.
  13. This morning I mowed the lawn and did some yardwork before the sun broke through. It was mostly bearable but still a soaker.
  14. We did a street fair in Chatham (NY) and it was unpleasantly hot, probably about 95 on the sunny side of the street where we were and stifling with the humidity and no wind.
  15. I think that growing up in Oceanside the immediate south shore summer dryness badly skewed my perception of summer weather in the northeast. My memories are of pleasant, mostly sunny days where you just went and did stuff outside all the time. My time was almost entirely spent south of Merrick Rd and mostly more than a mile S of that and daily watering was definitely a thing, you could easily tell who didn't (like me ) Ha! My garden is having a pretty good mushroom year too. It's a sign of healthy soil so I'm good with it. Thankfully our dog isn't a "taster" and pretty much stays away from them and the slime molds.
  16. Dry here so far and it looks like I may split the uprights again. Didn't think I'd be watering the garden today.
  17. It's not so bad once you get used to it. You just go inside where it's air conditioned.
  18. It's passing by to my S/SW, dark clouds moved in here with lots of thunder not too far away. There's big stuff off toy NE too.
