  1. I'd rather have nothing than a slippery inch that makes the plethora of bad drivers do dumber things than usual.
  2. I started following a few on FB so I could start injecting bits of reality and throwing sliders in and bursting bubbles. I've had little successes here and there. It's kinda fun actually.
  3. Nah this is tail-end of lake effect. I had a really heavy shower for a minute a little while ago.
  4. Very light... I probably wouldn't even have noticed if I didn't look at our black car.
  5. Anyone else getting some flakes and graupel this morning?
  6. Or watching Nemo bury LI and I got an inch
  7. @rclabHappy New Year to you and the stamp
  8. So, cold and mostly dry for a while. Could be worse. Judging by how that fog happened this morning the ground is very warm so it's going to need some time to cool down again and freeze. Hopefully that happens before we get decent snows so they have better staying power.
  9. Yeah, just responding to the post. I don't give up until March. This fog is intense. I coudn't even see the back of the yards across the street a few minutes ago, now it's dissipating super fast!
  10. At this range nothing will be 'the' solution. Could be great but it could also be nothing. I cleaned up the driveway this morning to make shoveling easier
  11. I hate when the 540 line is 5 miles north of me
  12. ^^ I guess I need to get off my fat ass and clean up the driveway today to make shoveling easier. Maybe get some film up on some of the less well sealed windows too.
  13. JB (and others) showed them the way. It's like some people truly believe the adage that there's no such thing as bad publicity. Until the algorithms are smart enough they'll keep boosting this shit because it gets more hits and reactions and the BS will get deeper and deeper.
  14. I'm kinda surprised at how low the rain total is, it poured for a long time and it looks like it only added up to .6.
  15. I went out right after the rain started and the air was already noticeably warmer than it was around 10. The rain was a lot warmer than the air and didn't even leave a glaze on an upside-down metal canister I use in the garden. I'm sure it glazed stone ground surfaces but probably not for long. Already warm rain falling through quickly warming air got warmer and the ground wasn't cold enough to beat it. Yup, snowcover is fading fast.
  16. It started raining a while ago but just popped to 33 a few minutes ago. I'm guessing it's a little slick out there but it should get better pretty quickly now.
  17. That's an oddly sharp cutoff from eastern Putnam heading north. What's up with that?
  18. It's like when your wife gets to the third sentence and you fade out and then, of course, she asks you what she just said.
  19. The warm soil temps will have a significant effect on snowpack retention if we don't get a lot in the fairly near future. We got rain but not enough, as referenced by WDrag comment elsewhere, so there's a lot of warm air in the soil below the wet level and now it's insulated with a (thin) frozen cap and snow so it'll stay warm.
  20. I'm pretty satisfied with my 2-3" considering I wasn't expecting more than an inch.
