  1. Yup, gonna get wet. Bummer, I was hoping to ride in the morning.
  2. Over the last 5 years the difference is noticeable, the last 2 is mind boggling and super scary. At least here the bird variety is still really good but I don't expect that to be the case next year. In fact I think the birds of prey variety and numbers is still increasing as well as ducks, I've seen more ducks this year than I can ever remember around here. Your broad spectrum idea is most likely the culprit which explains my 2 year observation. Since the current administration relaxed the enforcement of marginally sufficient regulation 3 years ago an already bad situation fell off a cliff.
  3. I didn't know that, thanks! I've been trying to add pollinator attracting plants to the yard for a while now. It seems to be working but this year there has been a massive decline in the number of bugs, particularly bees and butterflies. So far it's only been a small problem in my garden because of the attractants but I can drive 300+ miles on the highway and barely have any on the windshield and that's kind of scary.
  4. So are we getting wet tonight or will it wait until after noon tomorrow?
  5. I've never called a report in. Since the turn of the century I've hoped that those that need to know follow the forums and the reports we post are seen and utilized. Is that too optimistic?
  6. Went from a reasonable .4 a little before 7pm to 1.7 by a little after 8pm. The wind was definitely worse than Fay delivered and it brought down some big branches and made another big mess in the garden that negated the hours I spent fixing yesterday's damage.
  7. That last round of storms came through in a rather dramatic fashion and dropped an inch in a pretty short time. The wind was worse than yesterday, the rain was much heavier and w lost some big tree branches in addition to more garden damage. Uggh
  8. Only another .4 so far today but it has been wet all day and now it's boomin' and rumblin' and raining pretty hard. #bringbackthedrought
  9. 1.1 storm total, 1.6 for 7 days. While it has been damp here for over a week it's not really that wet, wet enough for plants to flop over in the garden though
  10. 1.1" total. I may have saved most of the corn, I'm not totally confident but I am hopeful. We'll see. The tomatoes are probably gone but may be able to be replanted. Melons and squash are good. With the greens that are done coming out there's plenty of sunny room for root veggies so that's today's plan. I'm guessing you guys don't really care but it feels good to talk about it.
  11. So you're part of the problem. All that insecticide spraying is killing all of the beneficials and pollinators. Stop it!
  12. .85 Well that wind wreaked havoc on the garden. All of the corn is laying on the ground, lettuce too and 3 tomato plants are broken off at the base
  13. That's gonna be expensive, hope ya got a good gig up there
  14. The wind is up with some gusts mid teens to near 20, rain ranges from .15>.25 within a few miles of me.
  15. It didn't take much to knock over the windward side corn plants
  16. Yeah I've had very little rain so that in itself isn't the problem, it's the wind and excessive rainfall rates that do garden damage that I don't want.
  17. I was hoping this storm would fizzle, I really don't feel like dealing with a TS at the moment but, since it looks like that won't happen it's time to get cleaned up in the yard and get some fresh gas for the generator. 3-5" of rain and a bit of wind could make things messy.
  18. I'd be inclined to keep the thread here. There will be other threads in that forum that people can refer to but some of us don't migrate over there. From what little I can see I agree with you that the coasts will be most affected but I always wonder if orographics will come into play up here in "the hills" with tropical systems. There have been a few over the years that were awesome up here with double the rainfall they saw south of here.
  19. .4" of soaking, hardcore rain That puts me just under 1.5" the last two weeks. I'm rollin' with the big boyz now
  20. I got .4" FKNA yeah!! Drought buster for sure Sun is coming out again Maybe the second line will hold together and come through later and I can pull a few more tenths. Friday looks interesting.
  21. I was on the road all day but watching the radar has been interesting. That storm cluster west of the river looks to have put down a lot of water. It pretty much sat and dumped for hours. Who got it and was it as much as it looked on a phone screen while driving?
