  1. Tomorrow the snow comes back to South Lake Tahoe again. Palisades will get about 12 inches in the next few days over 7000 feet. They FINALLY managed to get the 8200' level platform cleaned of snow. That was ridiculously embarrassing, Tahoe. It took FIVE men, two of which used a snow blower AND a fracking skid-steer! It also took them TWO DAYS, LMAO!!! I am an old man, I could have done the deed with a Jebman shovel in about eighteen hours, all in one day! C'mon, Palisades crew! It was ONLY four feet of snow! Anyway, the storms will go easy on the Palisades this time around, only a foot of snow. Try not to get overworked, Tahoe crews. Its only twelve inches of snow, it should be light and fluffy this time. I know that heavy wet snow is so hard on your backs, Palisades crew. https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams Check out the webcams, by tomorrow afternoon snow should be flying. Ridgetop winds will be gusting to 75 mph. Nice, refreshing cool day for a jebwalk in the Sierran Cordillera!! TERRIFIC Bluebird Day at the Palisades! https://blog.palisadestahoe.com/conditions/march-17-awesome-snow-and-sunny-st-patricks-day-conditions-at-palisades/ That thirteenth pic is absolutely ICONIC!
  2. Magnificent bluebird day on the Palisades slopes today with highs near 40 degrees! Most lifts are running now. They FINALLY managed to dig the 4 feet of wet snow off the 8200' level platform! It took FIVE fricken guys, one with a snow blower and the other wielding a skid steer, to get the snow shoveled! Geeze folks! I coulda done it in 18 hours with a Jebman Shovel, all by my lonesome! Don't you dare let an old man like myself show you how to shovel the snow at Palisades! Get with the Program, Tahoe! You got another storm headin' your way by Sunday! Two more feet of fresh pow! Don't make me come up there and school you about how to dig the snow!
  3. Not sure if it is on Paramount + but ST Enterprise where they show the parallel universe, I loved the way Capt Archer runs his ship! I loved that stand up agonizer, it even had these cute little lights on the top! I should probably go live in Shanghai China for real. What was so fun and totally gratifying, was Doc Phlox all happy and contented as people got agonized, Sure I'm morbid, I love a good kickboxing match with Tong Po. I am likely quite the sick pup. This probably explains why I love avalanches so much, and the Donner Party thing back in the 1800s. Chilling, isnt it? And the Andes adventure in 1974. Don't forget my FAVORITE: The Everest Expedition in May 1996!!!!!!! I lovingly watched that at least 10,000 times! I really enjoyed watching people making poor decisions on the mountain in the blizzard! They stayed past 2pm, they paid the Price! I love Mount Everest, adored the Icefall, and loved that WIND and snow and the ALTITUDE! Man I wub this movie so much!
  4. Palisades is sunny and 30 degrees, bluebird conditions for skiing. They have managed to get many of the lifts back in operation. They have at least four feet of hard packed wet now frozen snow on the platform at the 8200' level, they are using a kind of skid steer to remove, it is taking a LOOOOOOOOOO time! Some guy is jebmanning a shovel, you can see this in the webcam. Someone really needs to school these ski personnel on how to dig the snow! Come on guys, it aint all THAT heavy! They have a couple more good sunny days to dig snow and get all the lifts running and redevelop the terrain parks!
  5. I have a BAD addiction to ST DS9. I binge and I binge. Never purchase a 12.4 inch 5G tablet. You will experience missing time, lol.
  6. FINALLY, A MUCH-NEEDED BREAK in the Palisades, as ski personnel dig out from that latest storm. Very icy on the mountain from rain that fell as far up as 9000 feet. https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams The 8200' level platform looks like the high Arctic! Top of Siberian Express has snow up to the chair! Crews are gonna be digging it for quite a while! In one of their blog posts, top of the Emigrant lift has got snow up to the lift building itself and chairs are mired in new snow! Its amazing how much snow these people have been slammed by! They have seen 662 inches on the season!
  7. Vastate you mentioned Paramount Plus earlier. There are a TON of Star Trek franchises shows on it, I get LOST in it! Also, BAR RESCUE! I LOVE that one!
  8. Its high time to get out there and dig snow!
  9. I have lost tons of time getting buried in Paramount Plus movies. Gotta get rid of that new 5G tablet.
  10. REALLY POURING BIG SNOW right now at Palisades! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams Unbelievable HUGE drift, just an IMMENSE pile of windblown snow up on the 8200' level platform! It looks like Antarctica up there! Top of Far East webcam shows how heavy the snow really is, against the trees in the background! Wow Tahoe has been completely destroyed by heavy wet snow, and the next couple of days will see ski personnel extremely hard at work trying to dig out Headwall, KT-22 and all the other lifts from very deep very wet snow that has half buried snowcats and many a chair on the lifts! They got a LOT of work to do in the next couple days after the storm lets up! Don't look now but here comes ANOTHER cold trough laden with moderate storms and more fine pow in the next week or so! They dont call this a SKI RESORT for nothing folks! They have seen 655 inches of snow so far this season, with at least two MORE months left of winter! All time record is about 810 inches in one season.
  11. That is exactly correct. You guys are going to get so much snow, you are gonna be TIRED of snow and tired of winter, tired of fighting kickboxer style for a parking space. In the meantime, you really owe it to yourself to read this blog post on Operations at Palisades. They have ALREADY CLOSED the Resort tomorrow the Fourteenth! https://blog.palisadestahoe.com/operations/operations-update-palisades-tahoe-will-be-closed-tuesday-march-14th/ That photo of the half buried snowcat is definitely iconic! They are heading for a record total season snowfall! About 800 inches in a season is the current record. I think they have 650 inches or something. Its BAD as heck up there! Rime ice on chairs that they have to pound off with hammers, compounded by metric tons of the extremely wet, extremely heavy snow that continues to pile up and pile up, that the lift operators have to dig out manually with a Jebman Shovel! You'd think that heavy WET snow would not drift. Think again! That stuff is getting blown around and piling up and drifting shut many a hard, backbreaking work the Ski Operators have broken out their backs trying to dig out for the skiers. They look pretty punked out, and to tell you the truth, I'd be dragged out of there on a damn gurney! It's beyond bad up there right now, and they got a huge Brobdingnagian BLOB of precip inbound that's likely going to bury them alive with three MORE feet of heavy wet snow, that they will have to dig everything out from yet AGAIN on Wednesday! It's surely a snow lover's very wet dream in the high Sierra, but not if its YOUR job to manually move that heavy wet snow with a shovel. I feel for those guys. Lower down in the lowlands, even more torrential rain will add to already catastrophic flooding.
  12. There is a huge huge GLOB of Pacific moisture on the way to slam HARD right into California and the snow is already picking up BIG-TIME at the Palisades at Tahoe! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams They will likely pick up another TWO TO THREE FEET! That wind is just blasting that snow all over the place at the 8200' level! They are gonna have a LOT of snow to dig, because many of those chairs are gonna be deep under fresh snow! Ha ha they are likely gonna be forced to dig the KT-22 lift out of the deep, drifted snow all over again!
  13. Nice job! Might have to hire you to put in our driveway here in central Texas someday.
  14. They'll get smacked. It's New England. But its ONLY sixteen inches with a 50 mph breeze. You know where I like to be for winter.
  15. I am stoked up but good, because a SECOND ATMOSPHERIC RIVER is gonna smash RIGHT INTO CALIFORNIA with feet of heavy snow for the mountains and more rain for the flooded low areas. I am so glad I do not live by a river in California.
  16. Sorry guys about the last post about tahoe in your obs topic. I moved it to the banter topic and deleted the post in this topic.
  17. This is the biggest drift I have ever seen thus far on the 8200' level platform at Palisades Tahoe! It is so high it is nearly obscuring the stuff behind it! Still snowing, and they are gonna get more! Lowlands are getting absolutely demolished by unprecedented flooding. They have had 137 inches of snow, just in March! Its an atmospheric river of pure heavy wet snow! They have been getting Deepcembered, JanuBuried, FebuBuried, and MarchBuried in Tahoe. Lifts are DOWN, although a few of the lifts on the lower mountain are operational. The upper mountain is snowed in and snowed under BAD, with snow ongoing and that wind is blowing it all over the place! They gotta manually dig out some of the chairs on the lifts, BY HAND, with a shovel! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams
  18. Nice snow pic! Wow you guys still have barren winterlike trees! In south central Texas we have near 100 percent leafout already, been averaging 20 degrees above normal down here from a vicious GoMex anticyclone. Yesterday we hit 92/65. I was out in it struggling with huge oak limbs that got iced then broke.
  19. Congratulations on the snow! Nice Currier and Ives look!
  20. Not sure, maybe about -20 F. Just so long as I dont have to clean it up. This, is why I love Palisades Tahoe so much! Take a look at that drift on the 8200' level platform! It looks like the Arctic Circle up there! That is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen in my entire life, a genuine Palisades Tahoe Snowdrift! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams Which brings me to my next point. You gotta be askin' yourself, Can They Dig It? Turn those speakers way up. I realize this guy is talkin about using NY gangs to start what amounts to an insurrection, but he says it so well, "Can You Dig It?" It is at 1:48 in the vid.
  21. LMAO! Meanwhile up at Palisades we have a HUMONGOUS DRIFT at the 8200' level platform! Snow is still falling and those WINDS are just blowing that snow all over the place! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams Palisades Tahoe is a beautiful place with more snow than I have ever seen in my life! Even MORE snow is on the way thru Wednesday!
  22. Well the temps are falling but good and more snow is on the way for tonight! This place NEVER EVER LETS YOU DOWN. All it wants to do, in the Sierran Cordillera, is snow, snow snow, all the time! Another thing I love so much, are those incredibly HIGH WINDS laden with snow, both falling snow and snow from off the ground, that just blasts past you in solid white ecstatic waves! I absolutely LOVE Palisades so much! The snowpack is SO DEEP at 8200 feet! It averages about 224 inches deep! It gets so cold, the snow does not melt, and it just keeps right on blowing around! Its down to 20 degrees! Getting ready for MORE SNOW later tonight! WOOOOOOOO-----HOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
  23. The 8200' level has remained all snow. The platform is piled up with fresh snow, and the winds are blowing it around as even MORE snow continues to add to the drifts up there. Palisades Tahoe is a snow lovers' wet dream! It just keeps right on giving and it never ever lets you down! They might end up piling on another 7 feet by Tuesday night! Those webcams are a BLAST, a kind of vicarious blizzard blast! That place is nothing but unlimited happiness for ever and ever! They say the snowbase is 224 inches! Just wow! Take a gander at their snow forecast! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/snow-and-weather And the webcams https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams Temps are DROPPING! Down to 24, now! Drop those snow levels! We need even MORE heavy snow at the Palisades! One thing I love, and cherish, is the thought of all the Palisades staff on deck, trying so hard to dig out the chairlifts, and then they get demolished by ANOTHER intense record atmospheric river of insane snow rates! Their biggest season on record is 707 in 2016-17, I think. Can we do 1000 inches at Palisades this season? I think so! Which brings up the question, Palisades resort staffers....... CAN. YOU. DIG. IT. ?????????
  24. EVERYONE NEEDS TO READ THIS BLOG POST! If you love snow YOU OWE IT TO YOURSELF! https://blog.palisadestahoe.com/operations/operations-update-atmospheric-river-to-impact-weekend/ The Northeast Bomb Cyclones PALE to insignificance beside Palisades' snows. Sorry Weathafella. Boston ONLY gets three feet of snow in a bomb cyclone. That's a dusting. I absolutely Pledge Allegiance to the Sierran Cordillera, and to the frigid snowy havoc and beauty for which it stands, for All-Time. I love those DRIFTS! I adore every severe roofalanche! I love avalanches with all my heart. This is how I talked in high school. I am now completely back to my old obsessed with snow OLD WAYS. I REFUSE to repent. I will probably end up dead at palisades if I ever get to go there. I love deep Sierran snow drifts, to the total, utter exclusion of everything, and everyone else, forever and ever. Tahoe is BURIED. The ski resort teams are actually complaining about being BURIED by snow. There were BUILDINGS the Ski Patrol uses that were entirely buried under excessive snows! Because of that, I know Tahoe is my kind of place. Those big Pacific storms can be deadly because of extreme snow rates and 120 mph gusts we can NEVER EVER have on the Eastern Seaboard. Severe, life-threatening avalanches only make this even more appealing! So do Maximum Interlodge orders! I do not need Heaven. Palisades Tahoe with a cold Atmospheric River dumping meters upon meters of snow on the entire resort, IS HEAVEN. Especially when Tahoe is already buried by snow and it is a devastating CRISIS for the Resort! MORE SNOW! BRING IT THE HELL ON!
  25. It would definitely be my pleasure, I'd get as many people as I can dug out so they can get food. All that rain from the atmospheric river is going to overload roofs that already have feet of snow still on them. Avalanche danger is gonna get very high as well. Looks like snow levels are going to breach the 8200' level as well, drenching my beloved snowdrift with heavy Pacific rains. Talk about raining on a parade, lol. We have got to send as many people as possible into those western mountain communities and get them dug out stat. We need to bring about 20,000 tractor trailers full of food, beer, IPA's and soft drinks too. Some of those folks have been without power for TWO WEEKS!
