  1. Take a gander at these Palisades Tahoe Cams. These folks are gonna get Day After Tomorrow'd really, really bad over the next 2 weeks. Its going to snow possibly as much as 5-10 feet in the upper mountain slopes over there. Those amounts may turn out to be conservative. Gonna be an epic time jebwalkin' that place! Refreshing 100 mph gusts too, Buffalo, NY style! They have had SO DAMN MUCH SNOW, that they have had to dig the chairlifts out of the snow! https://www.palisadestahoe.com/mountain-information/webcams
  2. What you guys need is a California style pineapple bomb cyclone with the axis of torrential biblical 15 inch an hour snows squarely over SNE. For days. And days.
  3. I love snow, but all the people that blizzard killed, that is just horrible. That poor 22 yr old lady trapped in her car by the high winds and numbing cold and snow. Who knows how long she was forced to wait, only to slowly freeze to death in her car? Buffalo in this particular instance, this particular 1977-like blizzard, is no place for an old man like myself. I have changed a LOT in the past 4 years. My right knee got badly injured while I have been living here in south TX. I am not so good at walking anymore. I'm not young either.
  4. I will help you dig out. I will demonstrate Jebman Standards throughout Buffalo.
  5. THAT, was one epic jebwalk! RIGHT INTO A DEATHBAND !!!!!!
  6. Buffalo is in BAD, BAD shape. Winds are piling up ridiculous drifts and people are stranded and have been stranded all day. Even MORE lake effect snow is on the way. Merry Christmas to everyone tonight and everyone stay nice and safe. I am very glad I am in south central TX with highs in the low 50s for Christmas. Reed Timmer is an outright hero, helping people out like he is doing.
  7. Reed Timmer has a vid about this latest LES event in Buffalo. Its absolutely crazy! Vis is damn near nonexistent. Winds have been gusting into the seventies in the presence of heavy snow and mid to upper positive single digit temperature conditions. Last night here in south central Texas, we had no snow but it was super cold (at least for us) 12 degrees with northerly wind gusts to 50mph at times. I was delivering for uber eats and it was cold as fook! Wind chills were severe, for us south Texans, down to minus ten. I am not used to this kind of weather anymore! I have now lost all my plants and will start from scratch come spring down here. Its getting so you CAN'T grow citrus here in Texas any more. Climate change is severe and it is changing very very fast, so fast I dont think we can keep up. You guys up in west New York are getting devastated yet again! Note this is not happening one a decade, or once in a generation anymore. It is happening to you once a MONTH! Maybe I'm wrong, but it appears the weather is out of control. Has anyone checked the oceanic currents in the Atlantic lately? Maybe it is slowing down a hell of a lot more than anyone imagined!
  8. Ginxy - I hope you all very soon get a whole lot of snow, good, deep pow with winds to blow it all around up there. Stay safe too. You live in snow country. You'll see big snows soon, it is inevitable.
  9. That's a big storm. Its gonna freeze up south central Texas something horrible, with that north flow on the backside. It is getting to the point, that we CAN'T grow citrus down here any more. This will be the THIRD year in a row that my citrus trees will DIE. Gonna lose all my herbs yet again. I get to start from scratch in 2023. Pipes will burst. There will be no water for days, and I'll be carrying water like an indentured servant in the original Colonies yet again. Not really sure what is going on with all these crazy Brobdingnagian storms. This is not anything like living in Washington, DC. Texas is NEVER ready for unusual winter weather, that is fast becoming expected every year and we STILL arent ready. Its politics as usual, with the small poor people like myself paying the price and suffering horribly. Every time it freezes down here, I have an extremely hard time. Just like back in Feb 2021.
  10. I wish I could find my old epic opus about the Infamous 2004 Ice Jebwalk. Those, were the days...........
  11. That, was definitely Top 3. It was unbelievable. I was digging deep powder snow for days, and happily walking in it as well, and doing some rather silly wallowing in drifts at night when I didnt think anyone could see me. I was also engaging in walking in other peoples' snow late at night. It's truly fun and utterly satisfying, to in effect steal other peoples' drifts by selfishly wallowing in other peoples' deep drifts at 330am because I get so damned obsessed with wallowing in deep drifted snow. Its very fun, when it's STOLEN snow, that I selfishly wallowed in under cover of darkness and under cover of it being in the middle of the night, when people are sleeping the sleep of the just, while I get my fill of their drifts. Then they wake up the next morning wondering, Who was the selfish bastard who desecrated my drifts? Yeah. It was The Jebman. Guilty as charged. I did that a LOT in the Great Blizzard of 2016, GB 16.
  12. That's GB 16. I was livin' in Woodbridge VA then, and I got 27 inches of white paradise right in my backyard. Spent four days of pure BLISS diggin' all that snow! Then my neighbors came up saying they wanted me to shovel their walks, using Jebman Standards lol. Jebman Standards involve digging 8 feet around all cars on the property, removing all the snow from the full width of the sidewalks and driveways, and piling it up as high as possible.
  13. Well Reaper, if you do try to retire, you guys will get lots of rain wrapped cutters all winter. You'll enjoy slop fests with 3:1 cement all winter. Ironically, some of those cutters will incidentally give us snow while giving you torrential wind whipped rain and sleet. Looks whats happening to you guys now. Who's to say I DON'T have ties to the weather-controlling Chinese? The Chinese and to a lesser extent the Russians, have weather control or manipulation technology. I really love that stuff, with all my heart. You could control the whole world with that kind of power! Save yourslef a LOT of pain and angst right now. Come back as the meanest, evillest Reaper the world has ever known, and get to enjoy a nice winter. Or else. Because I yearn, to be Reaped by the best of them. When you come back as a very demonic Reaper, I will pretend to be out on the Ledge getting ready to Jump, because of an unbearably mild winter all over North America, Jay Peak included, then you can Reap me, the Jebman. I never ever got to find out what it is, to be truly Reaped.
  14. Nice appetizer, Reaper. But we want you back here, eviller than ever! As a result, the new years eve blizzard will dump four feet snow in the sne. But I expect you back in here stat, more demonic than ever! The Reaper does NOT retire! You will not get to reap very many of us, since this is going to be one of the coldest, snowiest Mid Atlantic winters in a generation. We may get snow on the 23rd. As a result of your appearance, the SNE and NE will get annihilated by four feet of wind driven snow on New Year's Day. Connecticut will be buried by 2-3 feet of snow. That storm, will be the beginning of what Ginxy refers to, as a special winter. The Reaper will start a new demonic topic up in here and be VERY menacing. The Panic Room, is a Mid Atlantic Institution for the Ages.
  15. You want to see REAL SNOW? Go to Jay Peak VT. You coming? ( https://jaypeakresort.com/skiing-riding/snow-report-maps/weather-tim-kelley ) UPDATED DECEMBER 16TH, 2022 White Knuckle I’m not just talking about the drive to the mountain in this storm. I’m talking about how deep the snow may be if you hike through some untouched snow around the resort this weekend - up to your knuckles - while standing straight up. Once you lean over into a prone snow riding position, it’s more like white chin, white beard, white mustache, white hair, white teeth… (kids under 10 do not count or we will have to dig them out later) ha ha ha, just seeing if you're paying attention. Seriously though, for all those days we missed seeing new snow since Thanksgiving, we’re making up for it in one storm. Or at least we hope to, if what I’m seeing all pans out. It started snowing just after daybreak Friday, and it’s not completely done till about Tuesday, or at least it may let up a little for a short time. If anything I probably have to increase our snowfall forecast number from the 30 inches we predicted a few days ago, if all goes well. The storm that generated the Great Plains blizzard has kind of stalled out over the Great Lakes, but a new storm formed off New Jersey and is moving over to Cape Cod and into the Gulf of Maine Friday night into Saturday. There’s an inverted trough connecting the two systems. So that means ocean-saturated air from the east is gradually shifting around, coming in from the north then west later Saturday. That causes wind blowing into itself, along with upslope flow, making air rise, which causes air to cool and condense, which causes snowflakes. That’s part one of this storm. It looks like we could be close to 2 feet before the end of our Saturday, fingers crossed. You may not notice the transition as the set up then changes from what we call a synoptic scale system, to more of a Jay Cloud situation. Around noon or so Saturday, the snow is all the sudden going to be falling in a different direction and become much less dense. Powder on top of cream cheese. A perfect base building setup for the rest of winter. And though natural snow has been sparse lately, I think we MAY be able to get into some low-angle glades before we’re done here Monday or Tuesday. Snowfall intensity MAY decrease a bit Saturday night and Sunday, or at least become more intermittent, but we could get about another 12 inches or so before the last chair Sunday. After that, snowfall might just ramp back up Sunday night and Monday as we have additional moisture laden, unstable, low barometer, cool pool aloft (the center of the old blizzard storm) passing over into Monday. Checking my math now, I think I just called for 36 or so - inches of snow by Monday. Wind and chill looks tolerable until then. We are still snow'n - and start blow'n - most of Monday. Pushing 40" by Tuesday?? Possibly! I’ve been right before, you know. We may get a few minutes of sunshine Tuesday, but then there’s another upper level low with much colder air coming at us along with snow squalls Tuesday night into Wednesday. That looks like it could be another 6 to 10" when the Jay Cloud kicks in. Then we MAY get Thursday off for a snow-break before the real storm arrives next Friday or so. The Friday storm looks like the real deal - historic possibly. Keyword: possibly. With an arctic blast on the backside, just to keep us strong. Several more FEET of snow POSSIBLE next Friday-Saturday. That one comes with true Arctic storm force wind. We have that (brutal wind) to not look forward to, but at least we’ll have a few more days on the mountain to get acclimated first. It’s rare that we go a complete Christmas & New Year’s vacation without some kind of meltdown and refreeze. Knock on wood - this MAY be the year. You have ice balls on your eyebrows - take care of that. Talk again Tuesday. -Tim **************************************************** I absolutely WORSHIP Jay Peak, Vermont. No better place on North America, for snow. They make SNE look like Tampa, Florida during Spring Break.
  16. I need Redemption BAD. I am considering stealing a tractor trailer and gunning it to 120 mph then smashing through downtown Washington DC at speed, all because its too warm in Central Texas and I miss The Reaper in our Panic Room. I feel it is a fitting jump off the ledge scenario. I am also getting concerned about the long term models depicting a mild winter throughout the US into April 2023, even up in New England with flooding rains in Jay Peak. Of course, I am only joking lol. (In the present political climate, I could truly find my door knocked down by enterprising individuals in the name of safety and security lol) I am joking about the tractor trailer, but not joking about the mild winter. It appears increasingly likely.
  17. What really, REALLY breaks my heart about The Panic Room, is that The Reaper thinks he can retire. Please Reaper, come back. This place is just not the same without you. A few years ago, I wanted to know what it was like to get reaped. Now, I will never know, even if I gave up on winter for the rest of my life. The Panic Room without The Reaper, is far worse than getting Lucy'd by ten 2001 blizzards ten winters in a frackin' row, in one decade. It truly sucks huge hairy goat balls. Reaper, get back here stat. Don't make me have to shut off all the snow up there in Connecticut and make every blizzard go cutter for the next twenty winters in the Northeast. Hint: What's happening RIGHT NOW in the New England sub....... You better get back here Reaper. I expect a massively demonic entrance.
  18. Well, ski in 24 inches of pow. That mountain gets smashed by high quality pow all the time. Its a world-renowned snow magnet. You'd enjoy that. They are just gettin started right now.
