    Ok so it's farther south than I thought. I was thinking it was more west of Harrisonburg but it's definitely southwest.

    Just a coating of sleet and then a layer of freezing rain. Trees are coated pretty well with ice. Sidewalk is ok so I'd assume roads are as well except maybe some ice in shady areas

    Lwx extended the advisory for tonight but overall they don't seem too impressed with snowfall potential. Maybe that changes this afternoon.

    Most local temp readings (wunderground) are now are approaching 31 in Owings Mills. Probably going to be above freezing here before 1 am.

    Agree. Shenandoah national park has had two terrible ice storms this year but that's a pretty different climate with most of it above 2500 feet. But yeah, they're still cleaning up trails from November. It was the worst ice storm in a long time up there.

    Same here but I expect after dark if it remains below freezing the sidewalks may get icy. I'm thinking roads will be ok.

    Fox 5 DC going 5-10 inches north and west and 3-6 around the cities. Pretty bullish forecast

    They went from 4-6 to 6-8 in my area and moved the heavier snow north

    Cranky's forecasts are really vague, plus obviously he is cranky. I stopped following him. His posts were tedious.

    In all honesty though, if you're not in the heavy stuff it's just snow tv and the good stuff is probably 30 miles south or even further than that.

    Euro would be a disaster Tues-Wed .Yesterday was bad enough in a lot of areas in terms of downed trees and such. My folks out near Winchester still have no electricity.

    Only a couple inches of sleet and snow, but I really liked this event. It's been a good while since I've seen snow crusted over with ice--gorgeous scenery. It's too bad that it's going to mostly melt today. Nothing like '94 when I remember (in Winchester) we had a 6-8 inches of snow and so much freezing rain on top of it, you couldn't stand up.

    Lots of ice on cars, trees and sidewalks. Roads are slushy, parking lots are bad.
