  1. LOT must have summoned RC for the special mid range AFD becasue he did so well on the April 14 event. Nice and fun discussion as always.
  2. Like a mid January snow...decent backwash snows putting down a new layer of white. BTW...I never trust the Chicago measurements esp. after the terrible job they did on this storm..the night crew for Friday, Saturday particularly struggled. If only they had rode the forecast and trends they were given by the afternoon shift. But not making changes once it was clear what was going on today was really bizarre.
  3. really coming down again. 4' on cold surfaces easy. See LOT issued a WWA just to my west...though we clearly should be in it as well. Any thoughts on when things should wind down? Thought mid- afternoon..but radar still looks bullish
  4. 2-3 " of slop down. Just knocked snow off alot of the bushes. Rates are down to light snow and drizzle.
  5. The idea the roads would not be impacted was clearly wrong. They are caked with heavy white slush.
  6. My suggestion today is to chuck LOT's forecast and read the discussion. Forecast in no way can depict the range of possibilities.
  7. as I've said before the beautiful woman I married back in 1984 was born in a decent snow event on April 14,1961. This could be a repeat. Sorta neat. Couldn't help the rhyme.
  8. when you don't really want snow bet on snow.
  9. good to see the winter trend of snowing just to my north and west is not just a seasonal thing.
  10. I believe the latest big snowfall for Chicago is April 14, 1961...though as you've listed before it did not fall in one calendar day. Thus, 58 yrs to the date...if it were to occurr
  11. no way this sticks....not the snow...the model interpretations
  12. ^ well we know that's crazy. But fun even in the spring to look at a model map like this.
  13. My better half was born April 14,1961 in a snowstorm...so the story goes....in Downers Grove,Il
  14. rumor has it this has not disappeared yet.
  15. Thanks. You just screwed us. Guess, I'll drag my snowblower out of the shed. Good news, opening day looks decent.
  16. I'm ready for the 60"s. It'll be nice to polish off the remaining snowpack over the next few days. Hoped we'd get one last hurrah, but not in the cards. Time to enjoy the change of seasons!
  17. Agreed. But given the longer days and the warmth of the early March sun you can tell it's time to put hardcore winter to bed. Looks like will get split in the late week and weekend events so my hope we'd get one last hurrah seems to be fading. If so, let's get an early spring beginning the back half of March.
