  1. commentary on the 00Z NAM step in the right direction. Who knew...I'll take a Halloween redux and be thrilled
  2. ^ or DAB Cary, Ill to 4" Griffith, Ind.
  3. LOT being aggressive calling for several inches of accumulation (possible) in grids monday which is 72 hours out. Could just very easily go with a blended pops chance of snow this far out, and see how the model madness plays out. Rereading I guess it doesn't hurt to add in potential accumulation possibilities...
  4. I'm looking more for trends of a decent storm somewhere in the forum. Doesn't necessarily have to be northern Illinois.
  5. ^ most likely. Though from some of the info I'm hearing this A.M. there was a fairly decent shift in a number of the euro ensembles in the direction of the GFS.
  6. quite the range of posts in this thread. All within the past 24 hours.
  7. Is this the year Mr. Freeze get's to let it snow in Southtown and the heat meiser gets to let it rain and fog in the North Pole?
  8. looking less and less like this is a repeat of last December...which is a good thing. Chistorm called for a warmer period basically from the late November through first week of December period. Which was a period many had as cold and stormy with a return of the early November chill. Call made in early November. Models wavered back and forth and he stuck to his guns. Good call.
  9. A mild December with below average snowfall. Ugh.
  10. ^ did he mention two snowstorms before Thanksgiving equals disaster(in terms of snow lovers)?
  11. Cutter heaven for sure right on time for Thanksgiving week...unfortunately if you took the GFS verbatim many are on the wrong side of those cuts...which is probably the norm for late November...
  12. Even this moderation is still well below normal. Hope I find a window to get the leaves up, and the remainder of the patio furniture in.
  13. Snowing and blowing. Would do mid January proud.
  14. yup. sounds wish washy to say the least.
  15. am I missing that this looks like a 1"-2" event? Which isn't crazy for early November. That said, if we get a snow cover the cold thereafter will be something to talk about.
  16. True, This was back when the Illini had a basketball team. Apologies.........
  17. I sure hope all this cold and snow early isn't a jinx on the main cold season. Although, it didn't matter in the late 70's. But those are the only winters I recall an early start that stuck. There I said it.
  18. ^ It's the day after Halloween and there is 4" of snow on the ground with temps in the teens. We are expected to be in the 30's and 40's for highs for the foreseeable future. Average temps for now are mid 50's. I've tracked 2-3 snow events this week. I'm normally not on this board until late November. Trust me, it's locked in.
  19. will certainly need to see an increase in rates if were to achieve some of the forecast totals.
