  1. Nice piece of right- place- at- the- right- time- video. But, that roof seemed to give up easy. Wind noise should have been drowning out the (humorous) audio if it was that strong. Bit strange.
  2. Been having a lot of high clouds in Annapolis this morning compared to the 2 past blue sky days. (I see BWI has been reporting Mostly Cloudy all morning) If it keeps up, I doubt I'll break yesterday's high of 91
  3. Maybe it's a reaction to your negative thought waves. (Or maybe not....I dunno ) That "deep snow is no longer possible" line comes around every cycle here in Balto. After living through the snowy 1960's, we said it in the 70s...and so on and on.... OTOH, Nature seems to have a way of laughing at the weatherman and suddenly proving him wrong; so carry on I guess. (No harm meant...I enjoy reading your posts)
  4. How was the speed determined before the satellite era? I figure it was by charting observations days or weeks after the storm.
  5. Windy rain striking at Annapolis 15:20. Seems a bit ahead of radar image, which shows stronger cell passing just to our east. We'll see.
  6. Thank you for checking. In our climate, I've found that the DP is my most used piece of data. ( I live in a woodland near a swamp, so wind is never an issue, and temp is meaningless without DP)
  7. I've used one of those 4" gauges since 1980's, and also got a tipping bucket maybe a dozen years ago. It's fun to do, and you'll notice that both gauges agree at certain times of season; but do not agree at other times. There's nothing to break down on the real gauge, but it does seem to have a secret sign that must say "Bird Outhouse"
  8. Can it be set to read DP instead of %RH (as shown in the link)?
  9. This was the most respectable of the 4 storms this week. About 0.85" and rumbling thunder. Couple close CG hits too.
  10. Yup; seems like within a half hour of my outdoor obs, (minor Jebwalk ) we started to clear. Gonna adjust the window shade and hope for a T-storm.
  11. Plenty overcast in Annapolis. Outdoor feel factor is much less uncomfortable than yesterday noon. For some reason the DP at KNAK has fallen to 70 and I believe it.
  12. Low of 76 this morning is my highest start point this summer. If we don't get some clouds, I predict we'll hit 95, (which would be my highest temp this summer) Typical August, I suppose.
  13. About 0.32" from the t- storm. This was the stormiest of the 3 days, tho not the wettest. Hi temp 92 today.
  14. That first shot with the tree lodged in the space where the window used to be ....Ouch....that's weather pic of the year material.
  15. Tall grass is a favorite. Even if you keep your boots laced up, they manage to migrate to your ankles somehow. The bites/rash hangs on for a week. Very annoying.
  16. When it's 34f and raining. If track record is any indication.
  17. Fairly significant rain here in Annapolis. Tiny bit of thunder.
  18. Been steady light rain for past hour or 2, but only up to about 0.10". 73f. Making a crummy Saturday around the yard.
  19. Don't remember what we paid, but I do recall that selling it back, (or to anyone), when preparing the house for sale, was not a good deal. Meaning...the used market is good for these if you are able to find one and are willing to remove it and install it yourself. This was about 2009/10 and I recall selling the stairlift for $500 back to the company that originally sold/installed it. There were a few on Craigslist back then, about the same price. Worth a look. Edit: Yeah, here's one in MoCo only used a few times....$500: https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/mld/for/d/olney-bruno-stair-lift-sre-2010-electra/7356894670.html
  20. I don't think I can classify August as a nice month here. I usually tell out-of-towners that July is the hottest, but August is the most miserable. (Maybe we're just sick of it by then). (Of course, this brings up the question of what is a pretty nice month here? I dunno. But I do know that any month can get pretty crummy.)
  21. Morning low of 61. Very nice. Had 0.24" by evening yesterday, but failed to check the gauge this morning; (brief T-storm overnight). I'd estimate about another tenth, based on the electric gauge.
  22. July total 3.77", but mostly in the first 10 days. Pretty dry second half of the month. Lowest temp 59f. Highest 93. Somewhat cool by our standards.
  23. I think if we could poll the group we'd find a lot with very reasonably cool high temps this year (so far). I think some of the Virginians especially. I had one 94f day at my station as the hottest, so far. 91f yesterday. Oh yeah....I'm missing plenty of T-storms too.
