  1. Also the early Jan snow. Made more memorable by our power being out for 2-3 days. Major State highway closed 3 days after sudden heavy snowfall, major tree damage that took months to clear up. All in the swamps of Anne Arundel too. I've experienced 6 decades of central Md winter storms, some very big, and I never predicted this year's snow would be in the top 20 like this.
  2. Sorry it has taken me a few days to report the December totals: 5.18" for Dec; 54.00" for the wet 2022 (19" snow) Lowest temp 6f, highest 63f
  3. We also had a pup with heart murmur, she lived to 17. A little silver poodle that could run and jump like a deer. I think it'll work out.
  4. Been burning full bore. Was working on some oak and poplar, but finally banned the poplar until warmer weather returns. 7f low for Christmas here.
  5. I can't report event total precip because I can't get the rain gauge unfrozen from it's rack to bring it in by the fire to thaw out. And I can't use the old hair dryer heat gun on it because power's been out for 6 hours. Not a big deal, but kinda felt like complaining. Temp 11, DP - 3 (I think we'll struggle to get single digits here tonight)
  6. FIrst snow squall in Annapolis about 10:30 Wind pretty good too
  7. temp climbing quickly into the 30s, but no rain yet. Overcast
  8. Another 0.18" overnight. Event total 2.26"
  9. 2.08" and still dripping a bit. Minor road flooding, and just plain wet all over.
  10. Visibility in Annapolis has improved to 1/3 mile, in fog, mist, rain. I'm placing my obs in the obs thread instead of the icy event thread because I don't think we've had one drop of ice here today. Miserable, cold, rain.
  11. 33f and 0.30" of steady rain in AACo. DP 31
  12. low of 20f South River frozen (more or less) bank-to-bank at our little tributary. Just skim ice which will melt fast, but still quite wintery.
  13. 49 and rain, fog, mist... ....on a date which will live in infamy
  14. Low of 23 Difficult windshield scrape.
  15. November total rain 3.02" Lowest temp 19f; highest 79 11 days hit 32f or colder..
  16. BWI: 19.2" DCA: 13.5" IAD: 20.1" RIC: 10.3" Tiebreaker (SBY): 9.3"
  17. Thanks to everyone for making a fun and interesting contest.
  18. I seem to recall that @WxUSAF faced the same issue when looking for his first freeze last month. Might be worth looking into, but I don't like to question other observers' siting. Y'know, throwing the first stone and all that.
  19. Low of 26 Ice forming on the South River. Not very common for November.
  20. Low 18.5f I didn't yet winterize my north facing hose bib. Just seems too early. Guess not, eh?
  21. Already down to 25 beating my morning low. DP 12.
