  1. It’s actually pretty impressive how much of the US managed below normal temperatures for a 4 month period. You don’t see that much anymore.
  2. I don’t think anyone “digs the lockdowns”. As I’ve said before (and adding a few more that may or may not be my personal beliefs), I think: 1. A lot of people recognize that there’s no reason they ever need to go back to the office and would rather work from home forever, not because they’re afraid of getting covid but because wasting up to 10 hours a week commuting absolutely sucks. 2. A lot of people don’t have an issue with people being 6 feet apart forever and not have someone up their ass in every public place they go. 3. A lot of people probably have no issue with not having to receive unsolicited handshakes and hugs all the ****ing time and agree that it’s another unhygienic practice that doesn’t need to be brought back. 4. A lot of people have no issue wearing masks because they also cut back on the transmission of cold and flu, and: 5. If people really do enjoy the staying at home a lot part of lockdown, they can continue to do that whether there is a lockdown or not.
  3. That and we know NWS offices are conservative with any changes to their forecasts, especially radical ones like a 5 degree drop in temperatures and significant increase in rain chances (think about when models decide at the last minute that a snowstorm is going to bust. We know it, but the NWS won’t tell us).
  4. Looks like CTP doubled down on the heat and now carries a point forecast of 93, 94, 93, 93 at MDT from Sun-Wed (but with rain chances Tues/Wed). So there must be support for it somewhere.
  5. That’s impressive in a relatively boring June weather pattern.
  6. And didn’t reach 70. We’ll have to wait until tomorrow, maybe Friday to start our long streak of 70+ degree days.
  7. Sorry to hear. It’s my favorite place I’ve ever been. Hope you get to go someday.
  8. At the end of the day, the Royals have as many titles as the Yankees in the past 20 years. That’s incredible.
  9. I mean, if my options on who to believe are 97% of people who have devoted their entire life’s work to studying the climate, or some theoretical physicist (not climate scientist) who happened to write a book and some guy on a weather forum promoting said book, the choice is pretty clear.
  10. It sounds like the EU may be open to vaccinated Americans very soon, though countries can still opt to impose additional restrictions. Fortunately I went to New Zealand in 2019, so that isn’t on my list to travel to anytime soon (though I’d move there permanently if it were at all feasible). So yeah, maybe that particular issue is a non-issue at this point.
  11. I’ll always be grateful to him for giving me the chance to watch playoff baseball for probably the only time in my adult life, and he’s probably my favorite Pirate of all time, but man did his production mysteriously fall off a cliff at a young age. It’s understandable now that he’s almost 35, but it happened suddenly by the time he was 30.
  12. It might as well be ancient history, like the 2013-15 Pirates.
  13. It looks like they strung together 5 consecutive non-losing seasons from 2012 to 2016.
  14. Maybe a little drier towards Baltimore, the O’s won’t get rained out as they build their 14 game winning streak.
  15. Bullseye of 5” of rain along the PBZ/CTP border for the model run.
  16. It’s a very unsettled pattern with a lot of rain and storms, and muggy disgusting dewpoints pushing the mid 70s.
  17. EC shuts off the heat rather early too. But you won’t escape the humidity. You know this, we live in PA. It’s going to be humid nearly every day from whenever it starts until at least the end of August.
  18. In two months I’ll be able to travel to Canada or Europe or New Zealand or wherever I want to go? I’m not sure I believe that.
  19. I can deal with the garden variety, relatively transient heat wave that model trends seem to be settling on. It’s days upon days of temperatures well into the 90s that gets me.
  20. Saw that. We’ll see what the CMC does. It’s the last man standing when it comes to a historic early June heat wave.
  21. It’s difficult to impossible to get through the long non-snow season without BS-ing about off topic stuff.
