  1. Trying to figure out how PIT only topped at 96 in that heatwave.
  2. I’m going to go with August 2025. It’s the month that has gone the longest without being below normal (last time was 2017, which broke a streak of 18 straight above normal months), but it’s going to be a hot summer and won’t happen this year.
  3. So far in 2024 we have had 17 days that were 15+ degrees above normal and 16 days that were below normal by any amount. The last day that was 15+ degrees below normal was 5/3/23.
  4. You’ll stop at nothing to prove your stupid little agenda. Trust me, the last time someone will think about these records you’ve meticulously been keeping for decades will probably be about 3 years after you’re dead, maybe less. Is it even worth it?
  5. This doesn’t belong in regional subforums. But good to see you admit that your flawed data and the NCEI data both show warming.
  6. The flowers started poking through in early February just as they did last year, I’ve seen a lot of geese already returning north, it’s crazy. The recent “cold” spell featured one below normal day at PIT (a whole 2 degrees below normal), and we’re sitting at +13 for the month to date. A 9th straight above normal month here is a lock, and it’s probably much the same in central PA, even if the anomalies this month haven’t been quite as big.
  7. Well, July 2020 was the warmest July and second warmest month ever recorded at the airport, only behind August 1995.
  8. 0.4” at the official observing site still keeps us 0.4” short of 1973-74. Below are the current standings for the 10 worst winters in the 75 or so years that obs have been taken at (near?) the airport. I still think we can squeeze out a half inch during the upcoming cold period and avoid setting that record, but it seems it’d be a tall order to get out of the bottom 5, three of which have occurred in the past 5 winters.
  9. So today’s sixers game was a godsend.
  10. That looks like it pulls the most recent hourly obs from the ASOS. Look at that 63 gust in Philly.
  11. You ain’t kidding, it really gets that thing going.
  12. That squall looked like it possibly nailed the airport and missed the NWS office. Typical.
  13. What do we need, 0.9” to get past 1973-74 to avoid the modern era record?
  14. SNOW SQUALL WARNING NWS PITTSBURGH PA 1102 AM EDT SUN MAR 10 2024 PAC003-125-129-101530- /O.CON.KPBZ.SQ.W.0008.000000T0000Z-240310T1530Z/ 1102 AM EDT SUN MAR 10 2024 Allegheny County-Washington County-Westmoreland County- ...A SNOW SQUALL WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1130 AM EDT FOR NORTHERN WASHINGTON...CENTRAL ALLEGHENY AND WEST CENTRAL WESTMORELAND COUNTIES... 15. Oh boy, bands of heavy snow everywhere but the north hills. Checking in on @KPITSnow.
  16. NWS has put 1-2” into the grids for Allegheny County tomorrow.
  17. God damnit, we’re going to get screwed out of our warmest first week of March ever because of these damn low clouds keeping us from getting into the upper 50s.
  18. We’re on track for the 3/1 to 3/7 period to be our warmest first week of March ever. Today’s mean will likely come in around 54 or 55, tomorrow’s around 50 or 51 so this shouldn’t move much.
  19. Yes, @greenskeeper, I’m aware you don’t have a brain.
  20. Daily record. It broke the monthly record by just a degree. The places further north broke monthly records by 5-10 degrees, and in some cases daily records by 12-13 degrees.
  21. Some first order climate sites with long periods of record got almost 10 degrees warmer than any other February day ever. Rockford IL got to 78 after a previous record of 70 and Wausau WI got to 68 after a previous record of 59. Breaking monthly records by almost 10 degrees should be alarming to anyone with a brain.
  22. Look at how it keeps back building. Comical. Never happens with snow.
