  1. and somehow the GFS will be right....Despite the massive positive anomalies for January, it never really felt "warm". Maybe so much cloud cover? A torch at this point would be very much welcomed, with some sun hopefully
  2. Yeah, lack of snow in the future, didn't pay attention to the forecast....15⁰/10⁰ here, at this point just expected 40s/20s this week.
  3. Yup, t-shirts and shorts in this house....trying to get the humidity up has been a battle though
  4. Made it down to -7.1⁰...I hit -13⁰ in Newtown back in 2016, so not as bad here. Up to 5.2⁰ now....
  5. Was hanging around 7⁰ for 1 hour or so. ..just had a house shaking gust, looked outside and it is actually snowing.. temp down to 4.0⁰ in less than 15 minutes
  6. I think the most frustrating part of this winter is how quickly the moisture train disappears as soon as the cold air shows up and vise versa. I mentioned early on, in November perhaps how this season started off with the warm/wet, cold/dry vibe. It hasn't veered from that yet, months later....
  7. We had Sunpower panels installed. I did so much research before choosing a manufacturer/installer. Sadly solar is just like any other technology investment (cars/stoves/hvac/etc). Flip a coin and hopefully you get the product that doesn't fail because they all can. And if it does, hopefully the installer/manufacturer/retailer stands by their product. There is no perfect choice. I purchased a brand new Jeep years back, the thing was in the shop 4 times, in 3 months ($50k at the time, more than my panels/roof combined) the thing didn't produce any electric, drove me places and ate gas). The dealership stood by their product and helped me along, every step of the way until it was fixed for good, other dealerships might not have been so eager to help. For 18 months my system has worked flawlessly, Sunpower even cut me a check for under production in the first year, the fault of extra clouds, not their system. I haven't had an electric bill in 17 months. My average electric bill before the rate hike was roughly what my monthly payment is for the panels which will be paid off in 7.5 years. No complaints here, sorry to those that have. Iphones to lawnmowers have a failure rate, yet we still buy them. It just sucks when we get become part of those statistics.....
  8. Oh no, sorry to hear that. We were in the same situation. We had 3 roof companies come out to confirm what the solar company determined regarding our roof. They all agreed the roof needed replacement sooner rather than later. We ended up having the roof done by a company recommended by the solar company, everything went without hiccups.
  9. I was just reminded via memories about that one....I really just want 1 good storm. On the bright side, my panels just produced 50 Kwh today, for the first time since October 30th.
  10. Could be that I only took a quick glance, but the GFS did not look very warm for most of the 12z run....Of course there was no snow, but definitely not warm either.
  11. So I found the jinx on this season....my kid saved a snowball from last year's, last snowfall. He was supposed to throw it outside during this season's first snowfall. I found it in the back of the freezer this morning. Needless to say, it melted with the rest of the snow this morning...let's see if this bring s us some luck the rest of the season....Lol
  12. Second largest snowfall of 0.3" melted by 10 am...I think that puts me at 3.3" for the season and 0.5" over the past week. Great times....
  13. It won't be -20⁰ here, but I am a bit worried about my radiating pit....my peach trees have some interesting looking buds for January. Might have to start knitting some gloves for them....lost all of them last year because of the late season freeze. I refuse to lose them 2 years in a row...
  14. I'm all in for the second biggest snowstorm of the season being shown by the recent RAP and HRRR for tomorrow morning...at this point why not?!?! LOL
  15. Yup, 53ⁿ under mostly sunny skies. Sweatshirt almost too warm in the sun....forecast was for mostly cloudy and 47⁰
  16. I love how close the 12z GFS was to at least "something" before the big chill.....big shift north at least
  17. And drier....I guess we could dry out a bit. Hopefully the plants/trees can handle it. I swear some of my fruit trees are budding like it's late March. My strawberry plants have nice green leaves. Probably have to blanket everything, just to be safe. This winter....
  18. And we all know it is going to, love the -34° windchill here at 12z Saturday....If this were snow, it would have enough time to become a rainy cutter by then. Really done with chasing unicorns and end up catching skunks.
  19. This season states...If the Icon says we snow and the GFS says no, then the GFS is correct. If the GFS says we snow and the Icon says we don't, then the Icon is correct. If the _____x____ says we snow and the ____y_____ says no, then the _______y_______ is correct.....Same old story this year, until it proves my if/thenish statement wrong.
  20. Might actually be our turn to "cash in"....
  21. Also true....My soil is borderline a sandy beach, so we drain exceptionally well. But at this point the whole sea is like living on a lake. Probably adding to the positive temp anomalies. Like we are living in New Orleans....
  22. I could only muster a low of 25⁰ this morning. Nice clear and calm skies this morning, once again will be replaced with clouds a bit later. Can't buy a sunny day from start to finish. My area radiates among some of the best, but the lowest it has gotten the entire month has been 21.7⁰. That is almost unheard of for January....talk about clouds and lack of cold air, anywhere near by.
  23. Gfs blows the cold load all at once, like we did around Christmas. And here we are still waiting for the cold air to rebuild and move into our region a month later.
  24. One this is for sure, the rainfall doesn't seem to be under modeled...it is absolutely pouring out right now.. close to 0.50" already
