  1. Started the sameway this morning, definitely didn't end up the sameway though...If it weren't for clouds most of the day, we would have soared into the 70s, currently 68.5 here
  2. yup, 30.9 here....still only 31.8 at the moment. Front yard is crunchy with low 50s all around me
  3. Woodstove ftw...warm winter though, I have used less than 1/2 a tank and only 2.5 cords of wood so far
  4. My guy has $3.65 cash price, I haven't purchased since October though...
  5. 62⁰ out there right now, but those winds are roaring, got to be pushing 30 mph at times. Just found some daffodils popping up... saw a boat load of geese flying north this morning too. Really high up there, not the ones moving from pond to pond.
  6. Just had what looked like half a dozen fighter jets fly over here...tracking more weather balloons I suppose? Pretty far up there, but so loud
  7. Clouds beginning to thin here, sun should be out within the hour. 34 here at the moment, but 40-45 elsewhere. Should be 60-65 today assuming clouds don't build back in later
  8. It's nice to see the increasing heights continue to push into Greenland from the north and east in the 12-16 day time frame in the EPS/GEFS and sort of GEPS. Definitely squashes the SER a bit more at least. Still haven't broken the 4 inch mark yet, something needs to happen soon.
  9. Yesterday was beautiful, 56⁰, mostly sunny, light winds. Couldn't ask for anything more for February 13th, besides snow of course....
  10. Wasps came out today....spotted a few flying around, didn't take them long.
  11. I just checked, ours is coming up too. If there looks to be another artic outbreak without snow cover, then I will just cover them up with leaves. The concern is over the next couple weeks it will start really growing, then get really cold for a bit. Could damage the plant or stunt their growth.
  12. So you are saying enjoy it while we can? Looks pretty cold just north of us, if the GEFS have the correct idea.
  13. This morning confirms just what kind of pit I live in....I couldn't believe the weather station when I saw it...So I took another thermometer down to compare. Along with the ice on the ground and the swing set. Everyone else, 40s and 50s, 32⁰ here, it was actually 30.7⁰ when I got up. I am sure the wood was cooling the thermometer a bit, it is still close. Our deck was 34.5⁰
  14. Actually a sleet/snow mix here in the valley, coating on the deck....32.7⁰/27⁰
  15. I just want to use my shovel at least once this year.....
  16. and somehow the GFS will be right....Despite the massive positive anomalies for January, it never really felt "warm". Maybe so much cloud cover? A torch at this point would be very much welcomed, with some sun hopefully
  17. Yeah, lack of snow in the future, didn't pay attention to the forecast....15⁰/10⁰ here, at this point just expected 40s/20s this week.
  18. Yup, t-shirts and shorts in this house....trying to get the humidity up has been a battle though
  19. Made it down to -7.1⁰...I hit -13⁰ in Newtown back in 2016, so not as bad here. Up to 5.2⁰ now....
  20. Was hanging around 7⁰ for 1 hour or so. ..just had a house shaking gust, looked outside and it is actually snowing.. temp down to 4.0⁰ in less than 15 minutes
  21. I think the most frustrating part of this winter is how quickly the moisture train disappears as soon as the cold air shows up and vise versa. I mentioned early on, in November perhaps how this season started off with the warm/wet, cold/dry vibe. It hasn't veered from that yet, months later....
  22. We had Sunpower panels installed. I did so much research before choosing a manufacturer/installer. Sadly solar is just like any other technology investment (cars/stoves/hvac/etc). Flip a coin and hopefully you get the product that doesn't fail because they all can. And if it does, hopefully the installer/manufacturer/retailer stands by their product. There is no perfect choice. I purchased a brand new Jeep years back, the thing was in the shop 4 times, in 3 months ($50k at the time, more than my panels/roof combined) the thing didn't produce any electric, drove me places and ate gas). The dealership stood by their product and helped me along, every step of the way until it was fixed for good, other dealerships might not have been so eager to help. For 18 months my system has worked flawlessly, Sunpower even cut me a check for under production in the first year, the fault of extra clouds, not their system. I haven't had an electric bill in 17 months. My average electric bill before the rate hike was roughly what my monthly payment is for the panels which will be paid off in 7.5 years. No complaints here, sorry to those that have. Iphones to lawnmowers have a failure rate, yet we still buy them. It just sucks when we get become part of those statistics.....
  23. Oh no, sorry to hear that. We were in the same situation. We had 3 roof companies come out to confirm what the solar company determined regarding our roof. They all agreed the roof needed replacement sooner rather than later. We ended up having the roof done by a company recommended by the solar company, everything went without hiccups.
  24. I was just reminded via memories about that one....I really just want 1 good storm. On the bright side, my panels just produced 50 Kwh today, for the first time since October 30th.
  25. Could be that I only took a quick glance, but the GFS did not look very warm for most of the 12z run....Of course there was no snow, but definitely not warm either.
