  1. More like false hope...it will be like our 38⁰ inverted trough a couple weeks ago...
  2. Its like a record low hurricane season that is ruined due to some naked swirl in the middle of the Atlantic, in November.....We will get ours, the end of March, that melts the next day....I think the amazing thing is I haven't even had to shovel. The snow that fell in December came after a warm up. The driveway melted most of the 2.7", the sun took care of the rest.
  3. Regardless of any look at this point...until something shows that forecasting persistence is wrong, I think the assumption should be rain for the most part down here... I am sure once we get some artic air, the storms will disappear and Buffalo will have feet of snow again.
  4. Man this winter sucks....Any signs of life and it reverts right back to garbage for us in SNE. If it snows, great, but at this point it really has been same old story from the start. I find it amazing that we can somehow find a way to snow every other October. But here in the prime of climo season we can't even buy an inch?!!? We have to get lucky just for some snow....lol
  5. At one point I was a bit excited for some 1 inch slush on the backside of this storm. But alas, nada here.....enjoy it up north
  6. That was meant to say there isn't even any piles...my bad I should go to bed earlier
  7. Was driving around your area today, it felt/looked like November. Not a single snowpile to be found, in any shopping center. There are at least some old piles that are hanging on, but nothing to be seen. Definitely not a mid January vibe, thats for sure. Hopefully one of these storms work out. I am sure Buffalo will pick up another 4-6 feet though....
  8. Something has to give, right? 1 week run in February and probably again in early March, 15 to 25 inches will be Southbury's snow total for the season....
  9. Absolutely...there is some cold around too, so maybe it would stick around long enough to enjoy it for longer than 12 hrs
  10. This winter though...covid running through the family as we speak, now one of my kids just tested positive for the flu, definitely only this winter. Sheesh, ready for the spring....
  11. This season, every model that had a snowy run ended up being wrong. Euro, GFS, and the CMC have all had snowy looks from time to time. But the rainiest model almost always verified. Tenure of the season I guess...CMC isn't great down here, but it would quadruple our current season total.
  12. You can see it in the ensembles, might be a good 1-2 week period for us. End of January, beginning of February. But it definitely looks like we may need some luck mixed in there. Otherwise wise the pattern change is nothing more than another way to fork us. At least in our region. Hope I'm wrong...
  13. Our recent winters have been 1-2 weeks in February. Outside of a rogue snowstorm in December or January. Maybe it's a La Nina thing in our little microclimate. I'm ok with that....
  14. GEFS continue to look cold in the longer range, even sinking further SE. There are finally no more +10 departures out there past day 9, but who knows.....hope? light at the end?
  15. It could be...I have more kids with covid than I do inches of snow this year
  16. Epic winter continues....Past 3 days: 0.1", T, T
  17. Nice "band" of snow developing out this way. We had flakes off and on all day with nothing to show for it though....
  18. Good to hear you are over the worst of it, get yourself back to 100% before you head north...Good luck!
  19. yeah, just something to cover the ground, let the kids do some sledding for a few days..... Not asking for much, 4-8 inches would be just fine. But one, 18-24 inch storm would be well appreciated...lol
  20. oldest kid just tested positive yesterday....should be an interesting couple weeks, need some snow to distract from things
  21. days and days here....of flurries it seems. Way better than drizzle at least, hey who knows maybe we can claw our way to an inch. I measured another 0.1" this morning, ties for the 2nd largest storm this season
  22. It was right...the hrrr was right! 30.0⁰ and moderate snow with nice flakes, coating so far. Looks nice outside at least.
  23. Set that band up for 12 hours, our own mini snowstorm...
  24. Still snow here, but the sleet/rain line is pretty close. Looks wintry for the first time since well before Christmas. 32.4/27.7 This system would have been a really nice SWFE if we had some sort of blocking in place, I didn't expect the snow to hold on this long
  25. Hey its snowing outside! 33.3/26 atm, maybe get to add a few tenths to the season total this morning. Coating so far
