I think it was last summer, there was a gator loose in southern calvert county and some local came in with a crossbow and killed it. Personally I say bring on the gators, maybe they would help with the deer overpopulation?

Apparently it is very wily and whenever they see it the thing books outta there. Same story says they are trying to catch it and then release it down in Florida.

I read in the local paper that the authorities aren't releasing exactly where it's been spotted because "they don't want a bunch of rednecks" (actual quote) converging on the area trying to shoot up the place. SoMD....

Chesapeake bay is going to start resembling the everglades. We're already part way there with AGW, apparently in st Mary's county there's been an alligator living in some pond for over a year now. Survived last winter...not that that was much of a challenge.

I knew it was too good to be true having that dry spot up into Calvert county. Reality is starting to intercede. Basically the negative of a winter storm.

Anybody have a link to a site that gives high-res precip totals for month to date? Similar to the iweather site but that one only goes up to 72hrs.

We ended up with just under 3.25" here from the storms, again Huntingtown appears to have had a pocket of heavier rain than prince Frederick.

It's really intense right now. Lightning right over my roof and pouring rain. I'd say we could end up with 3" out of this complex easily. I'm sure some water will get past my ridge vent and stain my drywall. Hate that.

It seems like if storms are winding up as they go over the islands it doesn't impact them as much vs if they're already monsters when they pass over. I think bastardi had some theory about that but I don't remember it. -
All the leaf litter and woody material on the ground around my house has started to smell bad. I think it's all turning into a big rotten slime mess from all the humidity and rain this summer. It's kind of smelly just to walk outside, usually I like the smell of natural decay but this is foul. Got a quarter inch yesterday in another storm and I'm sure today won't disappoint either.

All the progs indicated last year was supposed to be promising and it sucked. Everybody is expecting this winter to suck so I'm going to invoke Bob Farrell's rule of investing: When all the experts and forecasts agree — something else is going to happen Look for this winter to produce.

That last cell bumped me above 3" but it does seem to be finally starting to tail off.

It's ruthless down here. 2" overnight and probably close to a other inch from the current blob of rain with a large area of action incoming. Very tropical, reminds me of when I spent a month in Borneo, but that rain was always in the afternoon.
