  1. Clouded up over here in the past hour. Stay vigilant.
  2. Not enough attention is being paid to the spreading cold blob in the North Atlantic. What it means for us, I don't know. But fear not, I have my eye on it.
  3. Man over the past 2-3 days it seems like everyone's grass just gave up the ghost and is burned to a crisp. Ground is like concrete and cracking everywhere too.
  4. Yup, we suck at rain. I give up, done trying to be positive. Everything sucks.
  5. There's a big chunk of rain coming up from the SSW on radar. I can actually trust this sort of setup to reach us vs. coming from the West. Unless it finds yet another new way to fail after dark.
  6. What is going on atmospherically East of Farmville, VA where the precip just dries up? It's really obnoxious.
  7. That blob over West Virginia looks promising. But there seems to be some forcefield east of the Potomac that destroys precip as it moves across the river.
  8. Extreme drought, woohoo. I wish there was some way to make electricity via dry soil. I'd be printing money.
  9. Thank goodness it didn't hit your house! A few years ago a guy down the street had something similar - it was an easily 100ft tulip tree that was field-grown so it was just massive, in the middle of his yard. Storm blew it right over and the spread of the root ball was taller than his single story ranch home. For some stupid reason he had it all cut up. I would have at least let the root ball remain as it was so huge.
  10. So you're saying we just can't know yet?
  11. It's rockin' out here. I'd say the pattern has changed. We went from northern plains summer to Cambodia summer.
  12. FINALLY!!! Heavy dumping in progress in Prince Frederick and Huntingtown!
  13. This round gave me some rain. Almost enough to get the ground wet under the trees. Almost.
  14. JB is reading last rites for the winter with the 97-98 analogue. How do we trade this and make bank?
  15. If not for the drought today would've been a pretty perfect June day.
  16. Left the mountains this morning following the evening thunderstorm...it was 74F, it smelled fresh, moss and lichens covered all the boulders, green fields everywhere. Got down to the beltway and it read 96F, grass was brown, winds were Santa ana, expected to see gopher tortoises and burrowing owls, even tumbleweeds. It truly is an armpit of weather down here lately.
  17. More thunder out here near DCL. Very breezy out as well. 65F.
  18. Looks like the storm that went though here are gonna be just north of home back in Calvert. Ain't no surprise. Up here we had very heavy wind, I can believe the 65mph gust. We did luck into some heavy rain for about 20mins. I need to get a weather station for up here so I can measure this stuff.
  19. Funny cause as I was looking back at historical SSTs that's the year that came up for me as the latest closest analogue. Winter 2014 here we come. Where do you find actual data on the THC?
  20. Out at the cabin in Garrett there's a thunderstorm watch just issued and I checked the radar and it looks like a pretty solid line heading this direction. 72F, sunny and windy out now.
  21. What's going on with the Atlantic? Large scale BN anomalies all over. Do we think it's real cooling or just a function of the cooler air masses we've had cooling the very surface level but nothing else?
  22. All these forecasts showing large precip anomalies over us, I'm just not seeing it. Why are they such shitty forecasts? Are they hamstrung by having the follow model guidance?
  23. It's locked in. Just like the wet period this month, I've got a good feeling.
