  1. JB is already building hype for next winter. I'm predicting Sistene chapels and massive hymns from dec-mar.
  2. I'm driving up to Annapolis to pick up a new motorcycle tomorrow morning, I'm sure heavy rain is a lock for the AM ride home.
  3. We just bought a rowhome in NW DC (Bloomingdale) as a "city home" getaway to have...or at least that's what my wife thinks. Really it's an "escape the eastern flow" getaway. I think I'll just stay up there every March-May from now on.
  4. We had our one nice day of the week allotment yesterday...be prepared for another long stretch of crap weather and low clouds.
  5. Woke up this morning to pouring rain and like ten minutes later it's blue skies and not a cloudy to be seen. Feels awesome outside!
  6. Common protocol is to pull over if safe and place them on the side of the road that they were traveling toward. If possible I'll walk into the woods a hundred feet or more so they're far away from the road. If they're doing something stupid like walking toward a shopping mall parking lot then I'll either put them back on the side they're traveling from or drive 1/4 mile down the road to a safe area for them.
  7. This has turned out to be an awesome day, SE Asia feel to the air but it's not too hot out and the sun has come through. Feels very tropical. Unfortunately this plus the rain means I had to stop 4 times in the way home from work to rescue box turtles. I hate this time of year for that, it's so sad.
  8. I blame it on Hadley cell expansion.
  9. Another day in Borneo...another day that ends in 'y'.
  10. This weather reminds me of summer 2018. Hope we don't end up with that again.
  11. Just finished up some heavy rain in Calvert. Spring peepers and tree frogs are out of control tonight, a very froggie night out.
  12. Damn I didn't know that sight existed! My eyes teared up when it got to the extended forecast graphics on the local forecast.
  13. What year is that from? Looks like a throwback classic from old TWC local forecast graphics from my childhood.
  14. I'm camping up on the mountain at DCL. Rain. Lots of it. Should start cabin construction work on Monday...just in time for days of rain. Hope the perc comes through.
  15. Was KLWX upgraded recently? On radarscope it definitely appears to have higher resolution than it used to. Higher than KAKQ.
  16. What a rainstorm. 20yrs ago....what coulda been....
  17. I've posted on here in previous years and people weenie me but....my Weatherbug app is consistently more accurate than whatever the models are showing for the 10-day forecast for my house when it comes to predicting (lack of) cold. .I know these apps just somehow automatically take in model data, but whatever they use and however they massage it is definitely more accurate than reading the GFS or Euro verbatim in the 10-day range.
  18. We used to play golf on the moon 50yrs ago but nowadays our unmanned probes just tip over when they land. In the heady days of 2002 it was easy to believe computers in the 2020s we're going to be more HAL-9000 than tik-tok and Robinhood. Predictions are hard, especially about the future.
  19. No way. Last winter was obvious it was not going to snow so expectations were low and the winter delivered on that. This winter was hyped up to no end even up til just a week or two ago and all I got was one storm that put down 1.5" and another that literally accumulated and melted all during my morning time on the toilet.
  20. It can't be any worse than this winter was. So at least there's that.
  21. The Maryland border would be a weird demarcation line to try to predict snow off. Just for the stupidity of that boundary he should be discounted.
  22. Everybody seems to be really be piling into the idea that the next couple winters are going to be pretty crappy. Given the (in)accuracy of the LR thread and people predicting epic cold as of late I would take this as a positive sign that we will surprise to the upside next winter. When JB finally throws in the towel and issues a blowtorch forecast for next winter then we can be assured of Nina snows. And maybe that one really handsome twitter Met too. He wasn't much use either.
