  1. Flurries have started. Slightly ahead of schedule. Let's see if we can get some light onshore flow later this morning to squeeze in more moisture.
  2. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/677b1623a71cc/hrrr_ref_frzn_neus_fh17_trend.gif HRRR with some last minute corrections north
  3. 14" here from that late March 2018 storm. Wintry mix all day long then absolutely ripping once the sun set. 3-4"/hr out of that.
  4. Final call is 2" for here. And I'd be perfectly happy with it. GF says 2" isn't enough, so I told her to find someone(where) else if she wants more. Wind looks to swing lightly onshore by mid-morning, maybe a little ocean-effect enhancement. Regardless it'll make a fun evening riding in the Pine Barrens.
  5. Quick heavy band ripping through here.
  6. Toms River is VERY much South Jersey (lots of Piney culture here)
  7. Down to 39. DP dropping too now. Still light rain though most precip is retreating back offshore. 0.11" so far.
  8. Radar is filling in over me. Just a light drizzle at the moment. Definitely has that "it's going to snow" feel in the air. Currently sitting at 45, but should be gradually dropping as the day progresses.
  9. Ocean's still 48-51 degrees. Give us the slightest amount onshore wind and it's going to wedge in a layer of warmer air. Heavier precip rates will negate that nose of warmth enought to keep it all snow to the surface. Winds start out from the ENE, but once it swings north/northwest, we should see a complete changeover. Depends on how much moisture there is left to wring out.
  10. Barnegat Bay is rightfully angry too.
  11. Peak gust of 54 mph along the barrier island this afternoon. Enough to knock down this power pole
  12. I'm reconsidering breaking trail up on Panther Mountain and perhaps exploring the Delaware Water Gap area or the West Milford area instead.
  13. Breaking out the snowshoes for the Catskills on Friday/Saturday.
  14. Broke 80 again. Having better beach days in October and November than in June/July.
  15. Dust bowl out on the roads. Despite the now extreme drought conditions (based on the newest drought map), springs are still flowing well in the Pine Barrens. Lotta smoke this morning from a nearby wildfire in Jackson.
  16. Sugar sand as we Pineys call it. This area though had quite a lot of clay mixed in too. The amount of dust that was getting kicked up by other vehicles made it nearly impossible to see.
  17. Another beautiful day in store. Already flirting with 70. We'll make a run for 80 tomorrow. Out exploring some less traveled fire roads in the Pine Barrens documenting some rare plants
  18. Still looks bone dry for the next 7 - 10 days.
