  1. The walls were shaking, the Earth was quaking, and our minds are aching.
  2. Just Chris Christie falling down the stairs. No need to panic
  3. Peaked at 48 mph overnight at the shore. Definitely felt worse than that. Dime-size hail with the severe-warned storm around 6 PM.
  4. Right on cue. KDIX lately always happens to be down whenever it really is needed.
  5. 6 years ago today, had 15" on the ground.
  6. This is also worth monitoring. The somewhat positive aspect is that the winds are expected to be most powerful immediately following the frontal passage overnight on Wednesday/Thursday. It will remain pretty at daybreak, but the wind should diminish somewhat by the afternoon when the relative humidity begins to decrease significantly."
  7. Starting off at 37 this morning. Forecast here is 72. 2 miles to my east, 52. Sea breeze doing sea breeze things.
  8. They can't even get the cloud cover right for the current day sometimes. Could be forecast with 99% sun and all it takes is one cloud to completely ruin the experience. Planning on hitting the northern ADKs that Sunday, camping over, then hiking up Lyon Mountain
  9. Winds decoupled last night, and managed to drop down to 34 degrees. Gonna make a run for the mid-60s today, maybe a little cooler along the shore, but WNW flow should prevent the marine layer from blowing in
  10. Peak gust nearby to me was 55 mph at Island Beach State Park around 11:15 AM. Gusting in the mid 40s now
  11. Balsam Lake Mountain from yesterday. Was expecting 5-8" up top (3723 FT) but instead was surprised with about 0.75" of freezing rain and an inch of snow on top. Wind was no joke. Throughout the whole hike could hear branches snapping with each gust. This picture at the fire tower I am crouched down holding on for dear life. Impossible to stand straight up. Probably 50-60 mph gusts.
  12. A considerable change in the direction towards the south with less than 48 hours remaining
  13. So, I had planned snowshoeing Balsam Lake Mountain in the Catskills on Monday morning... This should be fun...
  14. Beaches have been f*cked up and down the east coast this past year. I regularly fish at Island Beach State Park, and we typically lose a little bit of beach in the winter and spring, but it builds back in the summer and fall. December and January were absolutely brutal. Some spots on the beach that typically are 50 yards wide, are now almost impassible at high tide. Sand is the softest I've ever seen it, and I've had to winch out stuck trucks and SUVs near constantly
  15. 2.25" of rain yesterday (24 HR total). Nice to get a little bit of a break today and tomorrow, my backyard is a pond. One more round of rain Saturday, then a much needed dry out until the end of next week.
  16. Meanwhile, an hour south from most of you guys, June - October was very dry. Lots of wildfires in the Pines.
  17. Raw and disgusting out. After the last two days, bring on the warmth.
  18. Radiational cooling doing its thing in the Pine Barrens this morning. Starting the day at 36. Reached 70 yesterday. Maybe another run to the 60s before it clouds up.
  19. Holy smokes it is windy. Driving home on the GSP was NOT fun.
  20. Real winter didn't start. Feels more like an extended late-fall.
  21. Warm start. Low of 42 here, already up to 48. Great to see some honeybees out and about yesterday and again this morning. Making a sugar water mix as I speak right now for them.
  22. Light rain with the occasional big wet snowflake this morning. 36*
  23. Yup and even worse was 2022 /s. Spent January-April with family in FL. This was my driveway on Jan 29 from a friend taking care of my dogs. 19" of powder. Drifts nearly covered the top of the Vette
  24. Sitting at 10.2" here for the season. Last year, I had 0.5" so I'm happy to say this winter has been 20X better than last year for me.
