  1. Okay Ophelia, you can move on now. You have overstayed your welcome like that extended family member that just won’t leave.
  2. What do you keep it at 80?! I can’t sleep until it is 66-68
  3. So you complain about the heat all summer and then on the first cool weekend you turn the heat on? My place is still 68 but very humid.
  4. Forget the cooler weather. I need 80s with a dew point of 40 to dry everything out nicely. Need to paint the front porch and stain the back. Hell I might need to replace some wood now from it starting to rot in all the moisture. This is ridiculous now. I’m so beyond this crap. Lightning fried the aquastat control panel for our boiler. Can we just have some normal weather now?
  5. You know what sells magazines? Big proclamations about lots of snow. Serious look at it, sounds like we will be wall to wall winter, which we know we won't be, but that is what sells. If they said "average year" sales would slump. Anyone selling you a forecast in September for February is just in it for the money.
  6. I’m convinced this upcoming heatwave is just Jimmy Buffet giving us all one last week of summer to remember that it is always 5 o’clock somewhere. Sad news for someone who even when things are dark any gloomy could make you feel like you were in the tropics with a boat drink. We can have our apple ciders and pumpkin spice lattes when the cool weather returns.
  7. I’m fine with losing it for fall if it can return for winter, but lately we know how that goes.
  8. They like to bake like Snoop Dogg: https://apnews.com/article/us-open-marijuana-pot-smell-court-17-sakkari-31c81d8fe34713c7f0ba69b55f4e7ea4
  9. It is amazing lately how engrained out weather patterns become. They just get stuck. So if it is warm come December, bank on a warm winter. If it is cold and snowy, then we can be happy.
  10. I honestly wish we could have a deep early freeze to kill the damn mosquitoes and yellow jackets for the year.
  11. Fall has arrived early this year. The leaves near Montreal were already starting to turn. Throughout Vermont we saw the same. For me on the CT line near Danbury, this will be the first below average JJA in quite some time. This has been a very odd year to say the least weather wise. One thing we did see on this road trip was a lot of disaster zones. Hoping fall will be relatively calm to allow for cleanup and rebuilding. Last thing we would need is a tropical system.
  12. Seeing as Boston has only had 4 days of 90s when their average is 15, I'd say we are in a similar boat. Our first below average JJA in some time if I am not mistaken.
  13. Can confirm. Traveling this week in Vermont, now up to Montreal. Car thermometer never got into the 60s until we were in the parking garage in Montreal today. Felt like early October with constant mist. 80+ tomorrow here or as they say here 27+ degrees
  14. It is truly amazing. Our hotel had FEMA and other disaster response agencies staying in it for the Vermont recovery. They have said that the damage to much of Vermont is just horrendous. Now some of the officials may have to go right to the desert for more flooding recovery.
  15. We are in fall mode and San Diego is under a Tropical Storm watch with a hurricane warning just off the coast. You can’t make this stuff up anymore. I’m up in Vermont this week and leaves are changing, especially around the Killington area. Might see some upper 40s this week. Although if you sneeze it rains up here this summer. Our hotel has many FEMA and emergency agencies still here from the massive floods.
  16. I feel like we have been hearing about the building WAR all summer long only for it to keep getting pushed back. We are already starting to see the same old hype for an epic winter to generate clicks. While I am excited for winter and it cannot be as bad as last one (I hope), I don’t anticipate this extremely wet pattern will continue. We will see.
  17. I saw the grey, overcast, but not the constant mist. Oh well.
  18. Honestly did not see cloudy and misty all day today. Anyone have stats on cloud cover for the summer? It feels like outside of a few weeks in July it has been excessively cloudy. Honestly hoping that we get a big shakeup soon to break this pattern. But I can almost guarantee we won't be putting up negative departures like we have in June and August come December and January.

  20. I have a 55% chance now that August ends up slightly below average. In May, if you had told me 2/3rds of met summer months would be below average, I would not have believed you, yet here we are. It will be up to the last week of August to see where we land in the Danbury/eastern NY area. To add: it has been a decent summer. Just wish it wasn’t always so wet.
  21. I'm sure we will somehow run out of trough magic come December, as usual lately.
  22. My son was stung by one of those bastards when we were eating outside. This fall is going to be full on war with diners. I don't think we will win that war at this point.
  23. I love summer too, but I am not enjoying measuring the rain by feet instead of inches. That part has not been fun up here. A 20 minute thunderstorm is great. A 90 minute deluge that removes my mulch and new grass, not so much!
  24. Another flooding rain up here in Putnam County. Just what the mosquitoes ordered.
