  1. Not liking this one bit. The GFS also brings it into the heart of WNC. I spoke too soon on winds.
  2. This is going to be a high impact event for the upstate and western NC if the track holds. Not particularly concerned about wind in the foothills but we’ll be on the dirty side of the circulation and no doubt we’re going to ring out every drop of moisture.
  3. As a lifelong western North Carolinian, the short answer is yes. Obviously there are lots of variables but the mountains - particularly the ridges above 4k ft will experience a high wind event. The bigger threat will be the extreme rainfall/ landslide risk if the setup holds. This is never a favorable track for the southern Appalachian region.
  4. If many of the tracks are correct, this would also be a major blow to leaf season.
  5. 3.23”. It’s no Debby but this helps.
  6. .98 heaviest rates of the day so far
  7. Always just in time for week 1 of college football
  8. Oh those storms last night were absolute lookers. Every cell around my area developed a mature anvil top.
  9. lol. Debby dumped 4.33 at my place. My comment aged like Greg Oden.
  10. Down to sprinkles here, so I think 4.43” will be the final tally.
  11. even more amazing when you think about how hollowed out Debby was just 36 hrs ago. I was screaming “bust” in my mind until about 10 last night.
  12. 4.39 and it’s picking back up again
  13. We’ve surpassed the 3 inch mark edit: not sure how long the power will stay on. The pines are really swaying as we’re gusting 30-40 according to my station.
  14. Roads are starting to flood here. Shocked the NWS isn’t issuing any sort of advisory.
  15. You’ll be shocked how quickly it returns when I order my grass seed.
  16. 1.36 so far in Granite Falls, NC. The winds have been shockingly strong as well. It started well ahead of schedule in our area so I think flooding will become a concern in the next few hours.
  17. Shockingly strong winds as well this morning, I was not anticipating this one bit.
