  1. this is why we love transitioning storms up here, more of an impact to more people. I never understood why anyone likes microcanes, the large sized storms have the most impact to the most people.
  2. I can go with drawing a line at Wading River and moving it south to the south shore and that would be a nice boundary between central and eastern. Areas east of that line often mix even on the north shore while just west of Wading River does not. Mt Sinai might even be Long Island's snow capital.
  3. no way is Riverhead central Suffolk. Twin Forks needs to be separated and considered extreme eastern Suffolk. So eastern Suffolk is just west of the Twin Forks back to about Brookhaven
  4. But the tropical storm windfield radius was reported to be 115 miles and it's about 100 miles between JFK and MTP 40 + gusts are easily doable
  5. isn't heaviest rainfall 100 miles west of the center track? also tropical storm windfield radius is 115 miles
  6. well tropical force gusts.....since the tropical storm windfield has a radius of 115 miles 60 mph gusts forecast for SW Nassau
  7. yeah but they get very little rain so not that exciting. Sandy wasn't that exciting with all that wind either, heavy rain is what makes a storm fun.
  8. I dont see any "east trend" the center point of the cone is still somewhere between central and eastern LI like it's been for the last 24 hours
  9. center point of the cone has not changed.....they are just narrowing the extremes, no landfall in NYC but no landfall on the cape either
  10. So tropical storm force winds extend 115 miles from the center, wherever this storm makes landfall we can expect at least 40+ mph winds 115 miles from the center in all directions?
  11. even the polar bears know it's changing thats why they are there now
  12. well I'm glad you avoid the monstrosity of the factory farming cartels
  13. also major moral and health reasons for avoiding factory farmed BS
  14. you also should eat much less meat for health reasons https://www.health.harvard.edu/staying-healthy/eat-more-plant-based-proteins-to-boost-longevity They analyzed 32 studies about protein intake that included more than 715,000 people, with follow-up periods ranging from three-and-a-half years to over three decades. Combining data from multiple studies, the researchers calculated that getting 3% more of total calories in the form of plant protein (like beans, nuts, and whole grains) lowered people's risk for premature death by 5%. Another study, published online July 13, 2020, by JAMA Internal Medicine, looked at the survival rates of more than 416,000 people who'd reported their diet and lifestyle information 16 years earlier (when they were 50 to 71 years old). In this study, shifting just 3% of calorie intake from animal protein (meat, poultry, fish, or dairy products) to plant protein corresponded with a 10% decrease in death from any cause over that period, for both men and women. In particular, replacing eggs and red meat with plant proteins appeared to reduce death risk by as much as 24% in men and 21% in women — especially in people with high intake of eggs and red meat.
  15. oat milk, coconut milk, etc, is better so I'm sure thats what he drinks
  16. thats what I was thinking too, they're going to concentrate staff on the eastern half of long island so anyone in Nassau county is SOL for awhile. I felt lucky I only lost power for 25 hours during Sandy
