  1. thats what I do too, to compile lists of our hottest summers, I use two factors (and thus generate two lists) 1) average of all maximum temps and 2) number of 90 degree highs
  2. Tony please recheck JFK for June.....3 90 degree days (we just had two back to back?) Also overall it's 5 for the season since 2+3=5 and was the high there today 90 or 91? NWS NYC sent out a tweet that it was 91?
  3. See this is why I love extreme heat in the summer, it's a lot more exciting than these meh storms we tend to get. The storms can come in September, they are much more robust then.
  4. it rained and perhaps hailed for like 20 minutes and then it turned off like a light switch lol
  5. damn you guys always get all the fun.....
  6. Was that July 2019 when the extreme heat happened that I remembered in the previous post (back to back 99s here on the south shore with record high back to back heat indices of 117?)
  7. Why do I remember JFK hitting 99 and LGA hitting 100 like a couple of years ago with a record highest heat index of 117 at JFK two days in a row on a weekend? Lots of local power outages that weekend too, especially when the extreme heat was broken by a line of thunderstorms.
  8. I'm not sure how much SST matters for near coastal water temps and hurricanes. I see Nova Scotia and Newfoundland getting hit with TCs on a regular basis with a lot cooler SST near the coast than ours are.
  9. JFK hit 100 in July 2013....NYC must've been undermeasuring again
  10. I'd rather have April 2002 or April 2010 when it was 90+ at both
  11. Boston hits 100 and we didn't? That sucks They can get 100 inches of snow and 100 degree temps and we cant get either lol
  12. at least you got to 100! did you feel a surge of energy when you hit it?
  13. 93 here. JFK therm must be in the water EWR 103 is an all time record for June? Did BOS or PVD get close to 100?
  14. Our next bout of extreme heat and chances for 100 degree temps to the coast? If it does happen I think it will be after July 20th. The heat post July 4th I've been looking at looks like it wont be at these extreme levels (low 90s perhaps?) and then it looks like we'll have a slight cool down (upper 70s and low 80s) going into the following weekend.
  15. ahhh 98.6 aka body temp....I've always wondered why normal body temp feels so damned hot I hate that though, if it's going to be that hot it might as well be 100!
  16. If it does happen I think it will be after July 20th. The heat post July 4th I've been looking at looks like it wont be at these extreme levels (low 90s perhaps?) and then it looks like we'll have a slight cool down (upper 70s and low 80s) going into the following weekend.
  17. Is it hot enough to actually get spontaneous combustion out there (hot enough for a fire to start without an outside trigger)?
  18. I'm wondering about this because of the recent bout of extreme heat we've seen that surpasses all previous records, especially at high latitudes. Remember that Siberia had 6 months of extreme heat last year that was about +20F above normal for an entire half year! Thats mind boggling.
  19. It may not hit 100 this month but I think our odds have improved of it happening in July. YAY!
  20. I dont like cold oceans, the earlier we can hit 70 the better
  21. I bet it gets hotter than this in July probably after the 20th though
  22. yup my thermometer just recorded 93, I'm 4 miles SE of JFK, but in an urbanized neighborhood. The houses in the area sort of block the sea breeze lol (2 miles north of the ocean.)
  23. 2013 was the last time we all hit 100
