That makes me think of the Back to the Future movie franchise in a whole different light......

I love Nuclear Thorium power, its the cleanest and most efficient. The specific things I do blame the fossil fuel cartels on is 1) covering up research from the 70s (same things you can blame big tobacco and the sugar industry on, they're all guilty of covering up research) and 2) dumping pollutants mostly into underprivileged communities and third world countries and 3) paying off judges to get the results they want when people, states, nations sue them and of course 4) bribing politicians. But in that last case they are just gaming a political system that's already pretty dirty and full of dark money. The US isn't the only one this happens in either, it also happens in China and India and many European countries and even Canada with their dirty tar sand pipelines being sent through Native American communities. Some of these countries are actually going back to coal, which dumps far more radioactivity into the environment than Nuclear does!

Holy hell, JFK hit 90 5x in September 1983? Simply outstanding! So their three standout summers are 2010, 1983 and 2002 in that order..... More rain coming, just saw reports of rain in NW NJ
-
Also, I think that twice is the most they've hit 90+ in September? 1983 data isn't in that table but I think that's also how many times they hit 90+ in September 1983?
-
Thanks Don! I love the 90+ days data.....did JFK only have 20+ 90 degree days twice? (1983 and 2010) edit.....2002 makes it in with 21. So just 3x?

Thanks Don, it just gave me a chronological list from 2000-2021. I didn't have time to mess with it any further than that but did notice that it was in September and one October for 6 straight years up until 2020 when it was in August (on the 27th) so it's definitely trending to happen later.

But not getting more extreme heat unfortunately, the yucky buggy and disease filled tropical kind of heat. I'm doing a slight redefinition of what I consider a hot summer.....this one fits my idea of a hot summer slightly better. EWR/LGA..... at least 40 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+ NYC.............. at least 30 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+ JFK............... at least 20 90 degree days and 1 day of 100+ most of my top summers make this list and the ones that dont, dont deserve to
-
I love this list as its my top summer list too. How come 1966 isn't in this list though- is it close?
-
Tuesday may be hotter than Monday
-
Hi Chris, do you have the JFK list too? Thanks!
-
Poured like all hell 5 am to 6 am looks like we got close to 2" in one hour! Further east in Suffolk 4"!? Anyone have any radar screenshots of this deluge passing through our area between 5-6? I was half asleep and it was too dark to get up and look through the windows.
-
Hey Walt- it rained a deluge for an hour here in SW Nassau County between 5 and 6 am for a whole hour.....does that 1.59 in SW Nassau include that? and wow southern Suffolk got almost 4"?! Walt would you happen to have a radar screenshot of what happened here between 5 and 6 this morning? I would love to see it, thanks!

100 degrees is utter perfection.

Mine wasn't a name brand though it had a glass cylinder and a container outside of that. There was a 10:1 ratio between the size of the funnel opening and the smaller cylinder inside so it actually measured in hundredths of an inch rather than the tenths it was marked for. The most you could measure at once was 1 inch (10 inches on the cylinder). Fine for the late 80s not so much now haha. I used to measure snow with that too, by taking the cylinder out and measuring how much snow fell in the outer container. I dont know what happened to it, one day I woke up and it was gone. Likely the garbage man threw it out.... or stole it. Then I had one of those digital ones with the remote display which I got in October 2005. Worked wonderfully for a month or two before it wouldn't display rainfall totals anymore no idea why. I actually have another digital unit (complete weather station with wind direction and speed indicator and rainfall gage but since it's another digital one I'm scared to put it outside and it get messed up lol.) I'll just get another one of these glass cylinders and stick it in some part of my yard where no one can see it. -

My favorite kind! That is what I used to have when I was in middle school. -
This was sneaky heat at the tail end of the heat wave. Made it to 96 here too, this was the hottest day of the entire summer here.
