  1. Well with a company like Chevron they need to be punished for what they're doing to Donziger and the damages they've caused in the Amazon and failure to pay the lawsuit they lost in Ecuador. Can't believe these companies are allowed to punish people who win class actions against them, but we are talking about crapitalism after all.
  2. lol sorry I thought I only made like two posts
  3. Maybe we need to develop technology to start controlling volcanoes so we dont go extinct one day
  4. youve had double digit snowfall events there with a raging pos nao already this year lol
  5. That just means it will be a progressive storm and favor coastal areas. by the way what is causing it to be so positive?
  6. I am glad you are interested in this, Don!
  7. the 1930s were awesome except for that darned Dust Bowl era lol
  8. Major is 6" or more to you correct? 4" happen infrequently but not a complete fluke up to the first 10 days of April. 6"+ events are very rare after 3/20 though
  9. Honestly if this was a just world all property of all fossil fuel companies would be seized and all their CEOs and board of directors would be clapped in handcuffs and sent to Guantanamo Bay for crimes against humanity and the planet. The International Court at The Hague should do that and send them to an international version of Guantanamo Bay, some deep dark pit from whence they are never heard from again.
  10. The media has also started talking about this storm.
  11. Don looks like that late week storm will be far more rain than snow so how does it look for the Sunday night storm? I've been hearing more about that one lately.
  12. I think we need to move onto the Sunday night storm, they were talking about that on the news tonight too- let us know what it looks like for that one.
  13. yup and a little wrinkle is that the western part of the south shore can sometimes be below freezing while the eastern part is above freezing. I've seen it in several events here where it stays below freezing from Oceanside westward and it's above freezing to the east of there. VD 2007 was one of those events and so was Jan 1994. March 1993 had 10-12 inches of snow from Oceanside westward, while east of there got only 6"
  14. Thats exactly my memory of it, JFK was in the lead after day one with like 9" on the first day and about 5" on the second day with much colder temps I thought we'd do much better but the second day was a disappointment. This is also the earliest I've seen temps in the teens. The first day was the best though and the surprise with that rain/snow line not making it further north coupled with the fact that the heaviest snows are usually just north of that line. February 2014 was the opposite of that, where the rain snow line made it just north of us-- I'll take a 12/03 over that every time, even with the disappointing second day of the storm, at least it was all snow.
  15. was 12/5/03 the two day storm with the Blizzard warning and like 5 miles south of us it was raining? The second day of the storm was colder, but we underperformed because flake size was small if I remember correctly. Ended up with 13-14 inches while the middle part of the island got like 20"
  16. when you say liquid do you mean as its falling but freezing when it hits the ground?
  17. the good thing about VD 2007 was it stayed below freezing here throughout the event on the south shore
  18. it's also interesting that long island always seems to be a snowhole on those maps
  19. It's unbelievable to me because I spent money getting siding put on my house and new windows with insulation and the wind is still getting in somehow. So I'm running house heat plus space heaters. At least there's no wind getting into my bedroom in spite of the fact that I have windows on three sides in there, so I keep the door closed and then it's okay. The rest of the house is freezing though, I noticed a breeze when I walked through the bathroom and downstairs by the living room and sun room.
  20. or clippers, I've noticed clippers have become a lot drier than they were in the 80s and 90s.
  21. I love hot DRY weather get rid of the water vapor and I love it. Also get rid of these damn winds, cant stand those either. Hot dry and snow without wind and cold is ideal.
