Getting snow and 85 degrees in the same month is absolute weather perfection ! It cooled down after the 17th didn't it? I remember that-- and we had half an inch of snow in the first week of April that year.

It's not cooler, it only feels cooler. I look at that the same way I look at wind chill. Actually it didn't feel cooler, back in March 1990 everyone was wearing Bermuda shorts lol. I just don't find much usefulness in *average* temperatures.

Yes, and it's been so wet in previous years that we've had a tough time heating up in the summer. Maybe more westerlies will help? It's interesting Islip vs JFK, Islip is further east but also more inland. But JFK is usually warmer than Islip unless the wind is due south.

It wouldn't really be a problem if we could get more concentrated snowfall in DJF or even just JF. If we could get 15-20 inches of snow in JF (each month, not total), then I think most would be happy.

I noticed strong la ninas used to be much colder and snowier back then, 1916-17 and 1955-56 were much colder and snowier than 1973-74 or 1988-89, although we had colder snowier strong la ninas again with 2010-11 and 2017-18.

Yes but weather does not follow *averages* that's just a mathematical simplifying of weather. I would rather look at when the first 60 and 70 degrees of the season happen. I guarantee that the first 60 of the season happens way before April 19th and that it's actually very rare not to get 60 at least once or twice during the winter. And I don't believe there has been a single April without 70 degrees happening at least once. Averages don't give a good picture of our actual climate. Also, the ocean is great at making the weather boring (I love extremes.)
