  1. the tellies look good for flurries in the Catskills lol
  2. Thanks Don, looks like their records go back almost as far back as NYC's do!
  3. It's so interesting that Newark's 2nd and 4th lowest temperatures on record are from the 80s-- and it's so close to Manhattan so why was there such a big disparity from Central Park on those nights? Can you pull up Philly too-- didn't they hit -10 during the 80s, Chris? Too bad we don't have Newark data from the 1917-18 winter, it would be interesting to find out what they bottomed out at in that historically cold winter.
  4. Yes, when the forecast from days out was for a high of 96 in the summer, I knew it was going to hit 100 72 at JFK!
  5. hopefully that will stay in new england as it often does
  6. It depends, it might be chilly for the first week of April, but don't expect it for the rest of the month.
  7. no, winter is actually now two months long-- January and February.
  8. today JFK set a record as did ISLIP, first day in the 70s-- both hit 72!
  9. too bad it didn't occur a day earlier, then it would have been the greatest Christmas ever!
  10. it could also be that UHI around NYC has become too extreme to allow for -10 temps anymore.
  11. are these the highs for all these locations, Tony? I love the downsloping winds!
  12. Yes and the allergies aren't bad yet either!
  13. My favorite kind of wind and day!
  14. JFK was warmer than LGA too wasn't it? The high at JFK was 66 while LGA only hit 63? In the summer, JFK could easily hit 100 in these conditions.
  15. any idea why this happened? was there a volcanic eruption that year?
  16. Did we hit 50 for an overnight low somewhere in the mid 80s in August too? The very first time I saw the Perseid meteor showers the sky conditions were the best they've ever been for them-- clear skies all three nights and very chilly weather, I remember it got down to 50.....it was in 1986 I think? edit-- I saw it's topmost in your list! That was my first ever Perseid meteor shower and the first time in my life I saw shooting stars and the weather was never this perfect any year after that! Just like early fall!
  17. I'd much rather see 100+ highs dew points are boring "80" is just a regular number
  18. we had 90s in April in 1977 didn't we-- just like we had in 1976. and the 1977 summer had a historic heatwave the likes of which we didn't see again until 1993.
  19. But if we were around and on here back then we would have hated the 76-77 winter, it was a waste of cold air. 2014-15 was MUCH better.
  20. Thats why 2014-2015 was such an awesome winter.... snow and cold. 1976-77 was a colossal bore, I am glad I was not aware enough to remember, cold without snow is a huge waste and energy burden and we had some huge energy problems in the 70s.
  21. Thanks, it's what I saw too. Pretty much all of upstate NY is in the 60-80 percent cloud cover range.
  22. Wow, AI can benefit us in multiple ways. I look forward to the time when AI will replace all forms of government, or at least, assist them.
