  1. 8/15 referenced events have a DC hotspots and we are overdue for a derecho in these parts from a climo perspective.
  2. Storms saw that watch box get extended into Baltimore and nope'd right up into PA.
  3. Baltimore Metro left out. Kinda weird orientation of the WCN.
  4. Looks like a cap or something between 800 - 900 mb...stuff tries to get up and then just collapses.
  5. Hey that's a neato tool. Where can a poster find that on SPC's site?
  6. Friday reeks of scattered wet microburst, warn-on-4-red-pixels storms.
  7. We should get that warmth in here just in time for Christmas.
  8. Pleasant Valley Fire Department in Carroll County has a good catch and release lake in front of their fire station.
  9. Replaced the blade, spark plug, filter and drive belt on my Toro mower. Also changed out the oil...it's like a brand new machine.
  10. We're now in summer...frogs crawling up the back sliding glass door, singing to their hearts delight, and the cats are having a freak out.
  11. After years of dealing with needles killing our back lawn, clogging the pool/gutters, and ruining the deck, we got the approval from our neighbor to remove about 10 large pine trees from the fence line. Hopefully in the next two weeks they will be gone.
  12. BWI, 102° (because of the controversy/climate change conspiracy theory) DCA, 100° IAD, 101° RIC, 100°
  13. This is a great period of weather for transplants...cool, cloudy. I've never lost a transplant when we have weather like this. A good shot in the arm will be taking some of the Miracle-Gro water soluble tomato fertilizer (yes this, not the blue stuff) and watering your transplants with this mix in about a week. It has a lower nitrogen content so it will help promote root and stem health. One good application should do, and that will bolster the plant(s) before the hot weather comes in.
  14. You can never post enough pictures like this in the garden thread.
  15. Ours was approved in Baltimore County...it has to be at least 5 feet from the property line, and at least 10 feet from and overhead power line.
  16. How large of a pool in diameter and how deep are we talking about?
  17. Don't waste your time fishing it. It's shallow and fast moving.
  18. Do you have links to buy the equipment? How was the tower installed? How do you maintain the anenometer?
  19. DC gained it (mostly) recently: https://wamu.org/story/16/03/25/dc_now_has_budget_autonomy_but_what_does_that_actually_mean/
  20. We have about a dozen tomato seedlings in a cold frame and will be putting them out this coming Saturday. We lost our tomato seedlings about 5 years ago in PA in early May to a rogue frost in York County and learned a big lesson.
  21. That is an amazing setup! Would you be able to elaborate on your instrumentation, placement and upkeep?
  22. States, counties and cities with rainy day funds will emerge with the least impact on tax burden on residents and businesses. DC is a prime example of this since they don't have full budget autonomy and get impacted pretty heavily during partial Fed shutdowns.
