How did everyone's garden fare? IMO, if we can make it to Wednesday I think our gardens are fine for the summer. Looks like I've lost some salvia and petunas in an elevated deck box but otherwise made out pretty well.
Yea, good LIs are a sign of the capability to really sustain updrafts and we've seen some pretty cold temps upstairs of late so I could see a couple of big hailers ripple off the I-81 corridor and trek into NOVA. Maryland is probably out of this one unless something big shifts in our favor.
@FXW176 your tomatoes are suffering from excess rain and cold ground. Bring the plants inside at night to maintain soil temps of at least 60 degrees and they'll start popping.
Going to dethatch, aerate, and overseed the lawn on Saturday. We're starting to turn the corner with a manageable lawn and it's really making things look nicer. I don't want a golf course, just something that isn't dead weeds and bare patches.
It's entirely possible to get a dump of small hail stones from sub-severe storms today. There are several mPING report in the 0.25" - 0.5" range in areas with limited population so you know the storms are producing if you're getting reports from the void.
This is your "classic" DC severe day. Cloudy, limited instability but decent lapse rate and/or shear. We get some clearing and one or two spots win out but for everyone else it's a ho-hum event.
