83 at 10:45 - today should be day #10 this year at or above 90. A LONG way to go to few years ago when my final number was 49 days.
Mow #19 was accomplished last evening.

Summer is going to keep on being summer.

i'll be drinking cocktails on the beach in OCMD, so i'm happy about it honestly

To me, the most important thing is avoiding a westerly wind component on the beach. Beach flies are horrible with west winds. Give me southerly or easterly breezes and I don't care what the air temp is.
To a point.

Today's high here in Maytown was 88.

Our yearly Heat Wave or no discussion has arrived! I do think that some people forget that the normal high in most of July is the upper 80's and only dips to 86 for part of August. So, 90's in May are a discussion topic while 90's in July are NBD. MDT only got to 83 on Sunday, over 4 degree's BN! I hope no one got frostbite.
2023 has been much cooler over the Met period summer than 2022 or 2021 so far was yet I hear people (not pointing fingers, talking outside this forum) telling me how unbearable hot it has been this summer. Unless you are approx. one to two years old, you "bore much worse" over the last 2 years to this point. I am not even sure the total number of one year olds complaining about heat has risen either!
I also think that the lack of true summer heat until the past week made the arrival of summer weather feel worse. Many of us had gotten accustomed to moderate temps, but more importantly the low dews during June, that once it warmed up AND got quite muggy last week...that was a jolt to a lot of people.
If it's in the 20s and 30s for days on end, no big deal. If we get one of those Januarys where it's in the 40s and then we get a run of 32 degree days, suddenly it feels much colder than it otherwise would.

I mean...if our normal high bottoms out in the mid 30s during January, we're not calling a string of days with highs in the low 30s as some sort of brutal cold snap...
Okay, maybe @mahantango#1 and @Voyager do.
Just now, Mount Joy Snowman said:As I've said before, is it a cold-wave when it's 35 or less for three straight days in January? Oh it's not? Then get the F out of here with that nonsense haha.

In fairness, 90 on the dot is only 2-3 degrees above normal. That is why I am not a fan of using it for heat wave designations. 3 AN is not a heatwave.

Third-ed - it's not a heatwave, it's called...summer.

Definitely some smoke in the skies once again today.

I think you meant to quote my other post about Ida. This post was about totals from yesterday. Sorry if that wasn't clear.
I'm sorry, my mistake!

Here are the most impressive totals I could find on WU stations.....
7.62 near Sinking Spring, including ~4" in one hour
6.71 west of Reading, including 1" in ten minute at one point
6.55 between Sunbury and Snydertown
The highest total on Cocorahs is 6.15 near Quakertown in Bucks County.
Interesting - many areas of western Lanco were between 6-8", I remember the event very well. My 7"+ amount wasn't even the highest in the county.
-
@Jns2183 - Ida dropped 7.11" here in Maytown.

Low was 65 here - it was 65 at 9pm last evening and never dropped lower than that after midnight.

I ended up with 1.60 today.
Just joking around here….I thought that you said that MDT doesn’t matter? Lol!
Haha, fair enough.
But that is still my point. Whether they get much more, a little more, a little less, a lot less...what really matters is what I get, and what you get. I got almost 2" of rain today and just because MDT got far less...it was still almost 2" in my yard.

Final total in Maytown - 1.81"
Orioles finish the 1st half on a roll. Tied with Tampa in the loss column.
40 minutes ago, Mount Joy Snowman said:Final tally here of 1.8”. Seems like the perfect amount. All grass and shrubbery is happy.
Pretty remarkable that a rain of that nature produced almost identical amounts.

My final turned out to be 1.35”.
First time in many rain events that I beat MDT.
And you.

That area seems to be ground zero.
Probably not the best day for picnicking at Knoebels.

Radar estimates of 5" has fallen in parts of the MSV with an additional 1-3" to fall per CTP.

No 90 degree readings approaching mid July?
Yeah, that doesn't happen every year.
